"That makes 12 players who have left the program with eligibility remaining in two years, and 22 in Walters' tenure" [as head coach at San Fransisco]. From Lindy's.

I have never thought we had "transfer problems". For the most part we have kids leave because of lack of playing time. Maybe some of those have left because they were "pushed out" which I have never really liked. We have had some "bad apples" pushed out, which is okay because I want a program I can be proud of. But the only player I can think of that we have lost recently, which I hated to lose, was Gillon. Still he may have left because we signed Devonte, and I'm not sure that he did not make the right decision on that one.

I was told that the signing of Devonte was what caused him to transfer.

We have had several leave for whatever reasons, and at some point in the past it felt like maybe we were on the high side of the transfer curve. (I could not prove that with numbers, just a feeling.) However, what had been an irritation in the sport is reaching epidemic proportions.

With that many of them floating around, you would think it would be a major part of any team's recruiting. Except you would have to screen them so you do not take on chronic malcontents.

RE: Think we have had transfer problems?
Maybe we need a Recruiting Coordinator just for transfers. We've certainly had some good ones in years past. Solo, Mike Smith, Brandon Patterson, Allan Blackmon, and even going back to Carl Brown. I realize I've left some out, but my point is we should be doing better in bringing in some transfers who can play.

Just a function of our "me first" immediate gratification society. Used to be players understood they might not get quality minutes until they are juniors and seniors. We are occasionally get players like Stetson, who are willing to work hard to get better, keep a great attitude, and slowly watch their minutes increase.
