How so? I don't really know WHAT they're getting at, unless they're afraid you'd use it as a live-feed video camera, which I guess could be said to protect revenue (or, as others have pointed out, distinguishable from a smart phone). But really, when your choice is to watch Fox Sports or watch your friend's shaky face-time video, is Fox really that concerned about the competition?
That's my point. If it's not a security issue, it would have to be a revenue protection issue. I could see banning certain recording devices under the guise of revenue protection, but I'm not sure why you'd include Kindles in the list of banned devices.
One of these days, I would love to go to an event and not have to open my bag. I'm rather afraid that event checkpoints will only get more invasive, though.

RE: Entry Personnel Ban Kindle for ODU Game
FYI, I got a response to one of my concerns...
Quote:My name’s Paul Lockhart-Korris, and I work in the Business Strategy department for Rice Athletics. I want to thank you for your feedback on the survey we sent out our game against Old Dominion. There’s no denying that most of the restrooms are outdated, although we do strive to at least keep them as clean as can be reasonably expected for a sports stadium. We will certainly upgrade them as part of a comprehensive overhaul of the stadium in the coming years. In the meantime, in case you haven’t seen them, the west side of the first level (very close to your seats) does have bathrooms that were renovated fairly recently and are in much better shape than those with the troughs elsewhere in the stadium.
