Says the man who doesn't pay taxes.

Quote:“I don’t think it’s asking to much of Americans to be able to say yes and we’re willing to pay taxes for it and yes we’re ready to have mandatory recruitment of young men and women who are prepared to say that if our nation’s in trouble, we all should be doing something,” he added.

Don't you get it, the draft will soon be necessary after the RADICAL cuts Obama is gutting the military. The only way to support a sustained ground war will be the draft. It's not if the draft is coming, it's when.

I can honestly say the direction this country is heading and with dim-wit-ocrats in power I would not want my son drafted into the military fighting under the democrat rules of engagement. 05-nono

An all volunteer military is one that is well qualified and ready to server. A drafted military is lacking one or both qualities.

Rangel is a scumbag but some things happen to be true even if a scumbag says them.

I agree that some sort of a dedicated "war tax", and some form of compulsory "national service" (not necessarily in the military, although it will serve some sort of military purpose) are both essential if the nation goes to war. Such actions instill a sense of unity and help to clarify the fact that the whole nation needs to help carry the burden of war, not just the members of the Armed Forces and their families.

Something about creating a draft to fight a war we've been creating since the 80s makes my skin crawl.

Our leaders created ISIS and our problems and now they want to potentially force young Anericans to pay the highest price to in no way fix it. America the beautiful alright!

Rangel is a prime example of a person that should never have been in Congress.

Think how this will change the calculus. Are you willing to chip in an extra 100 bucks to defeat ISIS? Anything along those lines.

Maybe Charlie's right. Lets have a war tax, border tax, welfare tax, etc. Lets have a separate bill for EVERY spending item and an associated tax that goes with it for ALL spending - and let our representatives, including Charlie go on record for what they want to tax and spend on.

My guess is Charlie wouldn't want that kind of transparency - he only want transparency for items he doesn't like.................

What a novel idea. Heck let's even give them a 50% discrepancy fund. You get so much in a kitty a year that the congress critters squabble over. Once we go over that we have these types of votes. Both sides get away with murder when it comes to the budget. Each side uses tools the last administration gave and used.
