Thats pretty awesome. Is that the new scoreboard that was recently installed?

Just goes to show that a bit of winning and a strong team will put fans in the stadium. We get thread after thread grousing about USF attendance. Well Duh, the team sux... it has nothing to do with playing in the Bucs stadium.

Agreed.

just one fan's opinion........
I find it more amazing that 20-25K people attend games (or at least buy tickets) for years for relatively poor performing programs than selling 40K tickets for programs that win 7-11 games. I'm not critical at all of the 40K tickets sold for winning programs; but the dedication of fans buying season tickets for decades for mostly poorer performing programs is a testament how passionate/patient the fan base really is.

Show the fans some life in the program and they will show up with $ in their hands to buy tickets.

If we can win 2 of those (or maybe even one and be competitive in the others), the sky is the limit. After that, our last 6 games are against more or less the bottom 6 in the league.

If we beat Ole Miss, even if we lose to Cincy, that stadium will explode for the Houston game--upwards of 55,000 I would guesstimate.

Actually, the reverse of that might cause a sellout. Lose in a competitive game to OM, and beat Cincy up there, and we'll likely have a 57K+ sellout for Houston.

Win both, and we'll have to build a temporary addition to the Liberty Bowl. Or make the scalpers rich.

this line was double and stretched past the fountain & was taken 30 minutes before the game. the ticket booths by the gates also had long lines at them.

There was a ticket deal...$7 tickets on living social (instead of the normal 10)

I posted the link on the MTSU message board to be nice.

Thanks for the heads up. May use this if we get a free weekend. Only 500+ have been purchased thus far...no significant effect on season attendance yet.

That photo does the crowd justice, but not the size of the scoreboard. It. Is one massive beast.

Fans in this conference haver become obsessed with attendance numbers. *

* ...of course my feelings would be different if we were still averaging 40K per game ;^)

Good to see some AAC teams doing well at the turnstiles.

this is the old scoreboard superimposed over the large video board in the south endzone.

the new video board in the north endzone is isnt tiny itself.

I really don't think $7 tickets vs $10 tickets explains anything. It's not like getting $30 face value tickets for $8--that can get people to go because they're "saving so much money" because we act like the $22 savings goes into our pocket.

But $7 vs $10 doesn't explain 40,000.

Hats off to you.

Irregardless all smack talk, big ups to Memphis football for bringing in that number.

At UH they just got over the 40k mark during the opener so I hold the figure as a huge milepost.

Great news for our conference04-rock

Not that it matters much, but the cheapest ticket at the gate is now $15. And parking went up from $10 to $15 now. So that makes it even more impressive. Baby steps.

I wonder what makes people enjoy going overboard with being annoying....especially when they clearly know that they are being a complete oddball and the overwhelming majority of their contemporaries totally dislike what they are doing.

I can be a pest at times, but it's never just for sport.

Same here. I never will understand peeps who stand out like sore thumbs for being annoying on message boards. I mean, just typing that sounds dumb.

I suppose they think they are cool, or different, or smarter, or whatever, but all they are is laughed at, or people just shake their heads at their social idiocy.

My theory is a lot of them just get a charge out of people taking the bait. The worst thing that could happen to them is to be completely ignored.

RE: 4 AAC schools had over 40k in the stands this weekend
Guys... Temple won't be hitting 40k for any of our games this season. I think that we hit 29k for Navy and 19k last week for DSU. We have some serious attendance issues that go beyond winning. The argument that the team sucks and the fans will come once the team starts winning isn't holding up. Granted we are not Top 25 but the team is decent and fun to watch. It was only 2011 when the team went out and won a bowl game. I see us as a middle of the pack AAC team. That should be good for better than last place in attendance.

The only permanent cure is a campus stadium. It won't solve everything but a sellout for that Navy game in a 30k campus stadium sure would have looked good!

For our final home games I think that we will do ... 18k for Tulsa, 30k for ECU, 22k Memphis and 20k for Cinc ... I am thinking 6 to 8 wins this season ...

Note: next season we will see some big numbers with 68k for both Penn State and Notre Dame ....

I don't think I'd ban anyone for being an annoying dumb***. Sometimes these people are an example of how NOT to behave. I don't know if I'd want a completely sterilized board. I do draw the line at personal attacks using vulgarities.
