Really? Then why build it that small. We have high school stadiums with more capacity. Sour excuse. It used to be that if you didn't have a 30k capacity stadium you weren't eligible for D1. Time to get to work. Afterall, you are the second coming of easy u. football, right?

It was built in 1939 or something like that as a WPA project. It suited us fine in FCS so we just built suites in the endzone. A new stadium is in the works but haven't even contracted out the design portion yet. There was a delay due to VA politics.

Never understood the numbers they say myself. When WKU plays there we alway brought more fans than They would have and we only would have 2-400. I hope they can build some consistent fan support

Holy crap, some of you posters on here....

BOTH games against power five conference opponents featured lightning delays. Who the hell is going to sit through a monsoon to watch a team that went 1-11 last year minus the hardcore fans? That is the problem; FIU is very young and hasn't had much of a chance to build hardcore fans. Our football program is very young. Give us a shot to have been playing football for the multiple decades like some programs here and see what numbers we produce.

You think we don't know about our attendance issues? If you think that is the case then you are a fool. If you know that we know about them and still want to rub it in, then you're just being a prick. Which is it?

You totally fall into the 2nd category I listed above. Normally I would ignore nonsense when I read it, but I don't want people believing some of your lies. When we went 8-5 and started out 3-0 with wins @Louisville and home against UCF (2011) there were multiple well-attended games.

The UCF game that year was very well attended. Reported attendance was 20,205, which was nearly a sell-out for our small stadium. This is not a couple thousand. A few games later when we played Duke, reported attendance was 22,682. This is not a couple thousand:

[Image: 6a0134865674e5970c01675eb5a36e970b-500wi]

FIU will have people show up to the games when the team starts winning again. That will be sooner than later.

Also, I think it's funny you let football attendance be the reason FIU shouldn't be in C-USA.

Sorry to all for possibly de-railing this thread. I didn't want people to listen to lies about my alma mater.

I stand corrected in those few games you had fans. And thats not my reason for them not being in cusa.... thats the ncaas rule. 15k attendance or you arent d1 FBS. You make up #s to meet 15k every other year. Thats a fact.

My reason is, fiu is a terrible football program that couldnt go 6-6 in the fcs

These figures are basically meaningless. La Tech seats only about 26,750 after they removed the "ears" from both sides on South end. The remaining "ears" on both sides, North end, were thinly occupied if not empty. They hold 3750 so that means attendance couldnt surpass 23,000 yet there were still other sections with large vacant areas and thinly occupied especially on West side. Probably 21-22,000 would be a good bet. Maybe they are reporting tickets sold but that wouldnt jive either because students dont buy tickets.

That 21,000 for USM was tickets sold. Actual crowd nowhere near that. My guess was 15,000.

The ears were 3/4 full EE. I don't think we had 26,000 though. I was thinking 23 to 24K before they announced 26,000.

26,004 means there could be no more than 750 empties in your 26,750 venue. Click to enlarge the photo and look at the upper left hand section in the photo, the East ear. It seats 1850 and is at least half or 925 empties right there. Look at the farthest four sections to right or South end, upper two and bottom two. Every empty there would add on up and then show us the West side if you can. That will better explain my estimate because that is where the other "ear" is located and has many less than the one on the East plus a number of other sections with a lot of blanks.

My only thing is, why not report the real number, thats all. Imagine what people inside the stadium think when they announce these numbers.

Giving the AD attendance bonuses, if thats true then I'm not sure what to say.

23K? Why are you kissing EE's ass, T-Won? Now you are both acting like fools. Are you his little girlfriend now? That stadium was DAMN full Saturday night. There were twice as many people in LA Tech's stadium Saturday night as were in UNTs stadium the previous week for our Thursday night game. I know, I was in both stadiums, and I've got pictures of both crowds.

Fact is, you can't really get many more people in LA Tech's Joe Aillet Stadium than what we had Saturday night. Not in it's current capacity anyway. And if you and your little buddy EE think we could have gotten 3,500 more in there, then you are BOTH on crack.

It is true, unfortunately.

And I remember well, us winning the MAC. Call it what you will. I told you i will call it like i see it, regardless of anything else and i dont give a **** about some internet reputation. Im not here to be your friend. Im here to talk sports OBJECTIVELY. and that includes not sugar coating it. If Marshall sucked i would say it. When we do, i do say it. I criticize my own team as much as anyone else. I tell it like it is. The way that i see it. Many of you may disagree or call me an ******* or whatever. Fact is, when something is a matter of opinion, sometimes i am right, sometimes i am wrong. I try to talk facts, not feelings when possible. Like the fact that fiu is in shambles currently.

Just like the real attendance vs actually reported. I call out rice, and fiu for fake attendance. Did anyone see the rice odu game? 300 fans at best. When attendance is the topic, i will talk about attendnace. Sorry if that mkes the fans of sub par attended programs butt hurt.

I agree with your fact, but another fact is that we could have gotten another 2,000 in the stadium. I think it was about 90% full which would be about 24,000. I think EE said 21,000... which is too low.

Regardless, we didn't inflate our numbers as much as the other schools did... including USM from what I understand.

If we get attendance numbers like ECU then that would be awesome! Regardless, not ODU's fault the WPA built Foreman Field and we still use it to this day. Think of it as CUSA's Fenway Park.

The next stadium should have 30K plus (I'm hoping for 35 - 40K), and I'm hopeful ODU will continue its tradition of selling out all games.

North end empty my butt. The east side was full. I would bet at least 500 students didn't get in because there were no seats left on the east side. There was a huge clog of students at one entrance and another long line of students at the other entrance and they were only letting in people with tickets. The east side was full. I was there. There were some seats on the west side but nothing was near empty. 27,700 is what it seats now.

27,700 and change is the current capacity. It also matters when that pic was taken. I entered the east side after it was 7-0. I didn't get to a seat until after our 2nd possession. The walkway from the south side to the north side where there were seats Took more than our entire possession because it was clogged with people. There were also hundreds of students still outside at that point they weren't letting in until all the ticketed people got in.

Oh yeah. I forgot to mention the parking lot was completely full. The spot I was in isn't normally a spot and 2 cars after me they had to start turning people away... And there were tons of cars behind me. I arrived at the tech I-20 exit 35mins before kickoff and I arrived at my seat after our 2nd possession.

Lighten up or learn to count. I'm hoping there was a little sarcasm in that number but there were way more than 300 fans at the rice game. It didn't help that the camera crew kept showing the away side of the field. They did show the home side a couple times and you could see a decent crowd. I'm not saying it was great but it was decent. Of course most of the stadium looks empty when your playing in 70,000 seat stadiums like Rice and UAB
