RE: Week 4 Game Thread
It was a "coulda woulda shoulda" night in Cincy....Miami blew a couple of scoring opportunities when it really counted and come away with another L, but we definitely could've won this game, which in itself is encouraging.

Overall, a pretty miserable day for the MAC in OOC play........one of the worst in recent history given how badly we are getting blown out of games.

RE: Week 4 Game Thread
We got our butts handed to us when you look at the score but from my understanding 14 points were off an opening kick return for TD and an easy fumble return for TD that put us down 14-0 early.

I think we will be fine, just don't go read the NIU gamethread on our board. You'd never know we went 3-1 despite playing three straight road games.

If you lose 20 games in a row, you should just drop football. The MAC deserves better.

Kareem Hunt on crutches. The injury bug seems to like the taste of UT players this season.

You wanted a rivalry game. At least MickMack is doing more to make it a rivalry game than Miami is at the moment...

Just watched a replay of the UC-Miami game (fast forwarding through commercials). Good game Miami. Your QB is very good. Your losing streak is almost over and you'll win some games this year.

Yes they will.

What rivalry? Winning once a decade isn't a rivalry.

You mean "come to Oxford." Just because Toledo is in Toledo and Ohio is in Ohio doesn't mean Miami is in Miami. Miami's campus is in Oxford, Ohio. Back to your point: UC is scheduled to be back in Oxford in 2015 and they'll win in front of 300 Miami fans.

Were you always a db or is it a new skill you've developed since you got away from mommy and daddy?

I meant come to Miami, the school, simpleton. You don't need to educate me on the MAC. I've been watching it for decades. This is a MAC board and I was addressing Miami fans. Why are YOU here, other than to troll?

I have two brothers who went to UC so I know that not all UC students/alums/fans are like you. Good thing, too because UC is actually a decent school, at least for engineering.

Yeah, he's got big balls, huh? Takes some real courage. Goes for the real hardened targets.

Mizzou wasnt gona let Toledo walk all over them with Pinkel back in town and Indiana losinng to bg with SEC play looming probably made that game easier to over look. UC hadnt hit anyone until us. No surprised they were overly fired up and came out burning vs the rockets. No shame in losing to those two teams besides the pass defense IMO. Still have a great run game, and BG shouldnt be ahead of us this week.

He'll be fine and more of a precautionary thing than anything else. He'll be ready to run wild on the CMU Defense.

Dear Northern Illinois Fans,
You did nothing to distinguish yourselves much better than most of the MAC this week. Arkansas was the first team you played this year that was any good, and look at the results.

OK then.

RE: Week 4 Game Thread
MickMack must be very young or just not very well versed in the facts or history. Yes, since UC made the temporary leap to a BCS auto league it has paid dividends in big ways....better recruiting, better coaches hired, some great bowl games and somd big donations for your extensive capital plans and Nippert upgrrades). As a person who grew up in Cincy and rooted for UC (esp hoops) in my youth, I am glad to see it. I have lotsa good friends who are UC grads and although I love to beat UC, I don't have a real "hatred" from them as do many of my fellow Miamians.

As a 1978 Miami grad (took some summer courses at UC, too while working for the EPA on St. Clair St (now MLK Blvd), I have seen the ebb and flow of the series...for times Miami dominated (esp when I was in school) and for most decades the W-L between UC and Miami was pretty close (obviously Miami won more times than not, even after losing the last 8). I'm not too optimisitic we'll ever get back to where we were vs. UC, but I do think with good coaching and the kind of investments (new IPF, etc.) we are now making , Miami will be back to being more than competitive. In fact, we were very competitive in the game Saturday. I actually think Miami will go .500 in the rest of our games in the MAC...we'll see.

I suppose you're right. NIU was terrible this week. And Ken, being an EMU fan, is an expert at terrible football. 05-stirthepot

Follow up to my response to MickMack of UC:

Here are the W-L's between MU and UC since the relatively "modern" era...I picked 1950 but you can "pick your poison". Up to the last few years, a very competitive rivalry with a slight edge to Miami. By decade:

1950-59: MU 5 wins, UC 5 wins
1960-69: MU 8 wins, UC 2 wins
1970-79: MU 8 wins, UC 2 wins
1980-89: MU 4 wins, UC 6 wins
1990-99: MU 5 wins, UC 4 wins and one tie
2000-09: MU 4 wins, UC 6 wins
2010 to present: All UC with 4 in a row (ouch!)
Records since 1950: Miami-34 wins, and UC-29 wins with one tie.
Guess we could've suggested dropping UC after a 16-4 record in the 60's and 70's, but fortunately that didn't happen.

I'll pick November 3, 2012.

Saturday, November 3, 2012: Buffalo 27 Miami 24
Saturday, November 10, 2012: Kent State 48 Miami 32
Saturday, November 17, 2012: Central Michigan 30 Miami 16
Friday, November 23, 2012: Ball State 31 Miami 24
Saturday, August 31, 2013: Marshall 52 Miami 14
Saturday, September 7, 2013: Kentucky 41 Miami 7
Saturday, September 21, 2013: Cincinnati 14 Miami 0
Saturday, September 28, 2013: Illinois 50 Miami 14
Saturday, October 5, 2013: Central Michigan 21 Miami 9
Saturday, October 12, 2013: Massachusetts 17 Miami 10
Saturday, October 19, 2013: Akron 24 Miami 17
Saturday, October 26, 2013: Ohio 41 Miami 16
Tuesday, November 5, 2013: Bowling Green 45 Miami 3
Wednesday, November 13, 2013: Kent State 24 Miami 6
Tuesday, November 19, 2013: Buffalo 44 Miami 7
Friday, November 29, 2013: Ball State 55 Miami 14
Saturday, August 30, 2014: Marshall 42 Miami 27
Saturday, September 6, 2014: Eastern Kentucky 17 Miami 10
Saturday, September 13, 2014: Michigan 34 Miami 10
Saturday, September 20, 2014: Cincinnati 31 Miami 24

Now should we really use the words competitive and Miami in the same sentence?
