RE: Those Defending Adrian Peterson
No one should be above the law. Especially athletes whose only accomplishment is that they can carry a football or dunk a basketball (examples). If the nfl comes down hard on Rice, Peterson, etc. other players if they're smart will think twice about losing those millions. And that includes their wives because if they see that if they provoke the hitter as in Rice's action then they will learn to cool it.

What I don't understand is how whipping a kids ass is a "southern black thing". Pittsburgh is in the north, the last time I checked, and I'm white/Native American, unless my parents lied to me. I got paddled with boards, belts, wooden spoons, and so on. Nothing put more fear into me when my mom would scream my full birth name or when she'd tell me "wait until dad gets home".
I was the same way. Remember asking them to use a belt instead of switches. My mother switched me so hard would have blood running down my legs. I remember in the summer I would not wear shoes, especially after I toughened up my feet for the summer, but remember her making me wear blue jeans instead of shorts if we had to go away from the farm into town or somewhere. Never though much about it until later because I was just a little kid.

Was just the way she was brought up. You know, spare the rod and all that stuff.

RE: Those Defending Adrian Peterson
Maybe I'm way off base but I think some people defending Peterson are doing so because he's a clean-cut guy (probably a bit of a heartthrob to many). If his image wasn't clean-cut, he'd probably be getting a lot more anti-public sentiment.
Secondly, I feel very bad for this 4 year old because if Peterson ultimately never plays football again, the kid could easily be blamed his whole life by his dad for messing up his life. It shouldn't be that way, but you never know how Peterson's inner demons will play out the scenario.
Personally, I think the NFL should take guys like Peterson and Rice and use them to do public service appearances as their livelihood. Basically, go to schools and churches, etc., telling people that their anger issues destroyed their careers and public reputations.

At the rate at which he pumps out kids from different women, hell probably forget which one it was.

Spare the rod, spoil the child. Now the kid will never be disciplined and will probably end up in jail.

Anyone who blames the kid is a raging moron and has no validity.
This reminds me of the stupid girls that were defending the Boston bomber because they thought he was "just so cute."

Fit and Firm. That sounds like a good name for this board's version of the Ambiguously Gay Duo.
