RE: Vacation and Time Off
I earn about 3 full (40hr) weeks a year that I can stockpile since it accrues as hours.

I get 5 paid personal holidays each year that I either take because I need them or lump sum them out before the year ends as I can't take them with me into the next.

I'm on a rotation so to speak as about every 3rd weekend I have off, every 3rd weekend I work in full, and every 3rd weekend I work Saturday and off Sunday.

************

Its hard to take LONG vacations because some people are just to inept to do their own job and you can trust very few people to cover for you well enough that you don't have to stress of them doing it for you. In this technological age everyone expects you to be able to answer a text, a email, or whatever whether you are at work or not. And, you get that strange look if you don't "stay and help." Kind of that unwritten rule if you will...

Like others have said, sometimes coming back from vacation is too overwhelming...

Vacation and Time Off
6 weeks of vacation, 3 personal days (essentially vacation), and 2 weeks sick time.

On average, I take 1 sick day per year, and the unused days get carried over.
