I don't often listen to sports talk shows, but I caught ND's this morning. As many of you know, I'm very attentive to and interested in language (many would say overly so). Well, the language ND uses is awesome: not just accurate but precise; nuanced; evocative. It's not merely an order of magnitude better than what you usually here on "jock talk"; it's better than what you usually hear, period. And he does it all with a folksy, seemingly aw-shucks tone that keeps it from sounding intellectual. Great stuff.

More ND!

ND has been a great neighbor of mine for years. His daughter Karolyn and mine went to daycare together years ago. I saw Karolyn at a 7th grade VB match the other day and she's now taller than me!

My father made a similar comment about James Casey. Individuals of that caliber give an entirely different perspective on college sports from your typical athlete.

I listen to ND's show every chance I get. He has got a great manner to his comments and conversation.

I have a few Nigerian heritage friends/associates, and they are all well spoken, highly intelligent folks like ND; a pleasure to be around. By the way, speaking of which, Hakeem has made a bloody fortune in Houston real estate subsequent to his NBA career.

Looks like ND Kalu is going to be in the broadcast booth for this weekend's game.

Quote:Dave Armstrong will handle the play by play duties and will be joined by a pair of former Rice football players on the broadcast. Former NFL standout N.D. Kalu will join Armstrong in the booth, while former Owls safety Trevor Caswell will serve as the Student Sideline Reporter. ASN is using students at the host schools for each broadcast as sideline reporters in order to give aspiring broadcasters on-air experience.

Great. Unfortunately, the LHN has more coverage than ASN.05-stirthepot

It's actually not a bad list of stations covering the game. Some decent-sized cities on the list. Now I'm guessing most are obscure channels that normally are showing Lawrence Welk reruns on a Saturday night. Not that there is anything wrong with that (or is there???).
