Yeah, that makes sense.

No, you just have no sense of humor.

Perhaps if you can explain what was humorous about it? I can only mea-culpa so far by saying, "I don't get it."

From what I can see, you're upset that I called someone YOU say is a parody, a moron, a "moron." From another angle it looks like it is meant to be a spoof/lampoon of our coach. Again, I don't see why UT fans would lampoon the UT coach? BG's coach? Sure.

How is it humor if it's hidden behind several layers of anonymity, insulting and trivializing people without even the smallest possibility of retort or repercussion?

Or maybe you could consider that maybe you are wrong and that ya boy's no Don Rickles.

Are you insinuating that Don Rickles is funny? If so, that may be the disconnect here...

04-cheers

Yeah, I can even stand Carrot Top for one bit or so but Rickles popularity was a complete mystery to me.

Rickles wouldn't hide. Did enjoy the Dean Martin Roasts, they always were in good spirit and spirits.

Gabriel Iglesias more my style. Maybe that's why I don't "get" this mean twitter humor?

I never could understand why some people think Christmas Vacation is the funniest movie. To me, there are funny parts and there are stupid parts that are just too extreme. I don't judge it as not being a comedy based on the parts I don't get.

The Unknown Comic told jokes so corny he had to wear a bag over his head. It was part of his schtick. If you focus on his anonymity, you'll miss the humor.

He wasn't exactly anonymous and his I don't recall being that "mean" type humor. Except against Barris and he was always standing right there, part of the joke.

No, I think there's a fundamental difference. This social media bullying is a new part of our culture having a pretty disturbing affect to the point there is actually talk of making anonymous behavior illegal.

Talk about conflicts of rights.

This type humor, it's nothing I care to participate in.

There is a difference between someone claiming to be another person, and making a parody account. Nothing Ya Boyy says is taken seriously, or is viewed to be the ACTUAL Matt Campbell.

I guess this is just an interesting topic to me. Perhaps because I've seen way too many hurt by this type of thing.

The bolded part I get but seems immaterial. It's still mean. It's still anonymous without threat of retort or repercussion. It's still a cowardly means to attack or disparage an actual innocent and it DOES invoke the name of someone, I'm guessing without their permission. "Parody" means to make fool of.

So again, what's funny about it? IF I use a message board to say someone's "mother is a whore, don't take it seriously," does that make the statement funny?

What a few here want to call "no sense of humor" and others "different taste" is to me something harmful that is of growing influence and culture, which needs push-back and discussion. I think it ridiculous to wish ill on someone because they didn't choose UT or to make fun of someone because they got homesick, let alone anonymously. This isn't typical rivalry teasing. That twit wasn't a tease. I think if someone is going to represent the University in this way, I'd want them to put that cleverness to use in a fun way, not a mean way.

If Yah boy had ya balls, he'd out himself then post the twitter humor and see how it goes.

What I don't understand is how this is mean. Some of our posters speculated that the young man might be "flaky" or "immature" which I consider to be harsher, but i still don't think they were cruel comments. EIB - even you said his future fiance should keep tabs on him. I'm fairly certain you posted that without malice.

By the time we got to "mean," I was thinking more in generalities, cyber bullying and the risk of anonymous humor but I agree, now that it's been explained a bit that particular doesn't seem a poke at the kid so much as a poke at EMU, which is fair game. As for my post: the REST of the story

Well that didn't last long:
http://www.mlive.com/eagles/index.ssf/20...ransf.html

Quote:"He's in class here, and was doing everything with us, but he probably isn't going to be continuing with us," EMU coach Chris Creighton said.

Creighton described it as a "change of heart" from Smith that doesn't necessarily include playing football somewhere else.

Sounds like some emotional things in life, maybe things just not working out as he dreamed. He's obviously got a determination, just needs to find a direction. Hope him the best.

Sorta glad he's someone else's problem and not ours. What a train wreck. Kid needs to do some growing up pretty fast regarding commitment and following through.

Definitely a train wreck for what seemed like a kid who had a lot of potential to succeed playing college ball. Wonder what would have happened had he signed with Toledo like he originally committed to do. He definitely would have started at least 1 game his freshman year. No way our WR Dwight Macon starts that NIU game if we had Smith on our roster, imo.

Apparently being 2 hours away from home was a lot harder than he thought it was going to be.

I don't know a thing about Smith, but my impression is that he woke up one day and didn't want to play football anymore...

Remember, in Ithaca, He was the really BIG man in town. His grandfather bought the scoreboard for the football field. Now at college he's one of multiple QB's on the football roster fighting for playing time.

Maybe, in 10 or 20 years he'll lead the Texas State Armadillos to their first win after receiving the death penalty......... 03-cloud9
