Coaches Luncheon II
Dear Friends,
There were about 22 people there today. Coach Creighton spoke about the improvement in the defensive play, and also had defensive tackle Mike Brown there. Mike is number 96, and is a redshirt sophomore and weighs 285. He also spoke about why he came to Eastern, which I found very interesting. He said he came because of the people. They were sincere, and make you feel like you are at home. He liked the players and their attitude towards him. Now of course players are going to say nice things about their environment, but he really liked that he was at Eastern. He and the other defensive players threw a challenge to the offense to see who would perform the best at Michigan State.
Back to Coach Creighton. He still insists that he wants to pass more, and downfield. The problem is that Eastern is down to two tight ends with Russell being slightly injured. Eastern is down to two or three wide receivers with Creel being injured. Playing freshmen is not out of the question, but in Creighton's opinion they are not ready.
Lastly, when asked about Jayru Campbell, is Eastern going to revoke the scholarship offer shown on recruiting boards? The answer was that as head coach Creighton talks to every one of the players that is offered, and he has not talked to Campbell.
Therefore regardless of what any recruiting site shows there never was an offer from Coach Creighton. He went on to say that maybe Coach English offered him when he was a sophomore, but right now there is no offer.

Agree. Thanks.

What happens in recruiting is that you can't 'un-ring the bell'. Once word is out there that School X offered a player the recruiting services (and fans) 'never forget'. (which is one of the problems I have recruiting. Lot of the 'information' is incomplete, outdated, inaccurate, etc..

It's not like: 10/12/2012 (hypo date) EMU offers Campbell.
10/12/2013 (hypo date) EMU withdraws offer.
