Oh yea, Ghostbusters, ET, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (you know, the cartoon before they ruined the series), Hulkamania, Commando (Arnold movie), Nintendo, Duck Tales, and so on.... Fun time to be a 6-8 y/o kid. Before I was 6, I don't remember much about the culture of the time, other than wrestling and Sesame Street.

Till the cousins came in that show was legit as hell. Vance and Coy...c'mon man...
There was this channel called MTV...and they showed these things called "Music Videos", which had nothing whatsoever to do with following drunken over-tanned kids from New Jersey.
Someone posted a Goonies picture upstream. My wife is very annoyed that I don't love that movie, which is one of her all-time favorites. I prefer "The Hunt for Red October" myself.

The Goonies
Back to the Future
Ghostbusters
Harry and the Hendersons
Weird Science
The Breakfast Club
Rocky III and IV
War Games
Ferris Beuhler
Die Hard
But something a friend pointed out to us, even movies that kids were going to see had a lot of swearing in them. I didn't remember it that way, but re-watching them as a parent I was shocked.
I DVRed Breakfast Club for my older son, but then deleted it b/c of the language. BTTF, War Games, Last Starfighter...all had quite a bit of swearing, even though kids were certainly going to watch them.

They did.. More than what you see now.. I think that's what drove us to see them.. However, I never used that type of language around my parents. These days it seems like kids are speaking like the Goonies were, and the parents let it slide.

MTV used to show music videos
Headbangers Ball
Yo! MTV Raps
Club MTV
...shows with music as the show.... what a concept!
