I'm pretty sure it involved someone ending up in the trunk of a car at the bottom of smith lake.

Just like Grant said Knox decision wasn't his, neither is it Saban's on playing UAB. That decision comes from higher up from those who shouldn't be making those decisions in the first place. Saban & the players probably could care less other than we'd be just another opponent they'd be trying to win against.

Saban was asked that either right after he was hired or after his first year. He answered that he had no problem with it, but it wasn't up to him. As far as I know the question has not been presented to him again.

And who at UA is more powerful than Saban, that it would be out of his hands?

Here is a time in 2011 where SouthsideBlazer asks him about scheduling in-state teams like Troy/UAB and Nick Saban said that he is in favor of playing in-state schools and said that when he was at LSU he made sure to play Tulane:

In other words, he answered just as the Bama BB coach did when asked about Knox - that is all handled by the AD (Mal Moore at the time) and others in that stratospheric level or above. They may have been asked by the higher ups "Do you like having a Brink's truck bring you your pay? Don't bother yourself with matters we handle."

The point is not what the answer was. The point is that the media feels free to keep hammering the question on the UAB side, but are two afraid to hammer it home on the Bama side.

We are in week 4 of the football season & those in the media with their questions are acting like we just hired Clark last week.

We should be at the point where they start asking a little more advanced questions.
