Men's Bracket

If ECU doesn't win this I many curl into a ball and cry, that is a horrible field.

Women's Bracket

UConn should roll through the Women's tournament.

The men's bracket doesn't get any better the longer you look at it.

It also says a lot about the lack of quality of women's tournaments if the best women's team in the country has to come down here.

It's funny that you think it is an awful field. RPI's from last year:

UW-Green Bay: 67
East Carolina: 227
Marist: 250
Fresno State: 120
Evansvillie: 216
San Francisco: 68
Hawaii: 163
FGCU: 148

So, ECU is the second lowest-rated team in the field. You aren't even close to a favorite to win the first game, let alone this event. You guys definitely have an "our **** doesn't stink" attitude sometimes.

Our "history", or lack thereof, in Basketball is something we're painfully aware of, as fans. Coach Lebo has exposed us to a little taste of "success", so forgive our exuberance! We're just excited for the promise of a new season & an improvement of the talent level of the recruits he's bringing in!

I am in no way saying ECU will make the dance, or even challenge for the conference.....but I think we surprise some folks this year! Give us 3-5 years in conference & we can revisit this. We take some lumps this season, for sure, but I still think we surprise a few teams, as well. NO MATTER the case, it's going to be great watching AAC basketball this season!

First game will be huge for ECU. Green Bay was a bubble NCAA team last year and while I don't know how many players they return they are almost always competitive for the Horizon League title.

It's a good start for us. No need to play in a tournament with a lineup like the women's, we would get destroyed. It's definitely a winnable tournament for us

We played in the NIT last year against Duke at Cameron and weren't destroyed even though we had a horrible year.

It's year 5 coming off a bad year with one of the most veteran teams in the nation now. If we are getting destroyed Lebo needs to go.

I think our football mindset translates over to basketball a little too much, I agree.

We sucked last year, but ECU like Tulane return two of the most veteran teams in the AAC if not the nation with 70+% of our minutes back. ECU unlike Tulane has been right around top 100 RPI half the time Lebo has been here. He needs to get us back close to that level with a veteran team in year or hit the road IMO, but the fact is he has done it so it's not unthinkable with what we return and add we should be a lot better. It's kind of the pattern we've had here under him.

ECU also adds to that veteran team a guy that started 19 games at Florida State as well as another 6-10 former starter that was injured 5 games into last season and a PG that was top 100 on ESPN when he committed to us.

Looking up Green Bay they lose a 7-1 guy that averaged 15ppg, 6rpg, and 3bpg. Obviously that's a major loss you don't just replace 7 footers that can actually play like you can pretty much any other position 07-coffee3

RE: 2014 Gulf Coast Showcase Brackets Reveled; ECU Men! UConn Women!
This would be a pretty decent starting 5 that has all started games for us

C Guilmette..6-10, 250 r-So...7.0ppg, 4.5rpg (injured early in the year)
F Zangari.....6-9, 235...Jr......8.7ppg 5.2rpg on 52% FG
F White........6-7, 190..So....12.4ppg on 49% FG/ 38% from 3
G PRC..........6-3, 185...Sr.....11.9ppg, 4.2rpg, 2.9apg, 1.6spg
G Williams.....6-5, 200...Jr......9.2ppg,3.6apg,3.6rpg 47%FG,

---------------------------------------------------------
add these two top newcomers

Tejada.........6-1, 175 Fr
Whisnant .....6-3, 180 r-JR....5.2ppg in 19 starts at Florida State 36% from 3

Also add a 6-9, 245lb top 35 JUCO on 247.

There is no reason we should expect to be at least top 125 this year or be competitive or win a tourny like this.
