Bielema was very respectful to the huskies (although his facts are a bit incorrect) but at the same you can tell in this press conference he is not at all concerned about the game Saturday

Why should he be? Last time he faced us was with Wisconsin in 2012 and we got crushed 49 - 7 with a team that won the MAC. If we want respect we will have to earn it Saturday.
Russell Wilson ain't walking through that door.

That Wisconsin team was a top 5 team.

Outside of just Russell Wilson, I don't see montee ball, Chris borland or nick toon.
They're a good team but to reference the Wisconsin team is a bit idiotic.

Did Russell Wilson play defense too?

None of those guys will be on the field either.

I don't disagree. I think we definitely have a shot to win this one. I just don't think we should expect to get any respect from Arkansas leading up to game time. That's the SEC way with supposed inferior opponents.

Except Arkansas has lost to teams like Louisiana Monroe and Rutgers (twice) recently. They should respect every opponent until they get back to that 2011 season when they were really good.

NIU is just as good if not better than Louisiana Monroe and Rutgers was those games. Arkansas is also better than then as well, but I'm sick of this defeatist attitude that people are acting like NIU is rolling into Baton Rouge or Tuscaloosa.

I'm not sure who is acting like they are rolling into Alabama right now. Most people say it'll be a tough game, but one that's not impossible to win.

lol, like this->

Quote:Also. Yall was very sloppy in the second half. UNLV tied the game with 9 minutes to go in the game. Huskers answered. Down by seven UNLV drives the field, is on the Huskers ten yard line and throws a int. Huskers clinch game with a late td.

I don't have to watch the game to see how it played out. If you commit penaltys against us in Fayetteville , it will be a wrap.

Quote:Huskers....Huskies....who knew?

If you expect me to sit here and give the HuskerUskies credit than you can think again.
You haven't played a team like ours yet, and won't for the rest of the year.

This is always so stupid. BCS teams expect to beat mid majors like mid majors expect to beat FCS teams. Especially an SEC team who is coming off a huge win.

Who gives a **** about what other fans think of NIU? Stop.

Nope, I only said Bielema in that press conference you can tell does not really respect NIU or fear NIU for this game. I have to say its pretty amazing that a coach would talk about an opponent two weeks from now and even mention the game time for the game 2 weeks from now. Anyone find that a little odd? After seeing this press conference, makes me wonder if maybe there could be a little bit of a look ahead to Texas A&M. I know it may not matter if there is a look ahead, but still, did anyone else get that feeling watching it?

Arkansas is a top 25 team, I don't care what the poll says, they are a better team than the team NIU beat in Tuscaloosa in 2003, by a long shot.

I guess I went overboard. But it did seen like some are acting like it's an unwinnable game. I certainly think it's tough but I think NIU can hang. Not predicting a W, but I certainly think one is possible.

The Wisconsin references to when they kicked NIUs ass just aren't relevant IMO. That team was really really good. It had a now Super Bowl QB, a running back that broke the record for ncaa tds.

Arkansas is big and has good backs but they're not 2011 Wisconsin.

They're good, but they aren't a top 25 team. Id say like 35-40. They kicked the crap out of an FCS team, and a tech team that will be 7-5 at best.

They play in a division with 5 top 10-12 teams depending on the poll. They're good, but they've got a long way to catch that division.

I think Arkansas goes 5-7, which will be misleading because the schedule, but they aren't quite top 25. Not good enough on d yet and don't pass well enough yet. Next year they will be top 25.

Well that's definitely true about Tech, that defense is real real bad. Central Arkansas cut through them pretty easy.

The rest isn't true?

They do have 5 teams in their division in the top 10. Honestly, Mississippi state is still probably just ahead of them as well.

Look at that schedule, tell me where they pick up more than 5 wins. They're close to turning the corner, they just aren't at the moment. Next year is where they will make a splash if their QB develops.

RE: Coach Bielema Press Conf / NIU Week
I have to disagree with the idea that Bert isn't showing respect to NIU. I think if you watch that press conference he is clearly not looking past NIU. If you knew our local media, you'd know he's probably been asked about a&m non stop since it is our next SEC game. Our media looking forward is our media being dumb, and also fishing for something to write about. I am confident that Bert and the team understand that this is a game they could easily lose if they aren't prepared. NIU has a recent history of playing some really really good football. The last 2 years we've played some really bad football. There's no reason to think we're ready to start looking past any team.

If you watch that press conference and think he's being disrespectful, I think maybe you're just looking for the worst and fitting it into an agenda.

I think he respects what NIU has done, but I don't think it rises to the level where he thinks NIU has any chance to beat his team. I think that comes across in the press conference. I am not even saying he is wrong with that view, and I don't think it will cause him to prepare differently or take NIU lightly in preparation.
