It is an eye sore. Patience, conference mates. We have legislative approval from the State of North Carolina for an addition and renovation. I have not heard of a time table, but the approval was recently (within the past year) extended.

Several years ago, prior to the end zone expansion, a poll was distributed to Pirate Club members to gauge the acceptance of suites to be constructed in the end zone. That idea was scrapped and we ended up with 7,000 seats in the end zone that is now our student section.

There have been no renderings, that I'm aware of, but I have heard that the new expansion will include suites and press along the south side; as well as meeting rooms, academic support rooms, etc. It is unknown whether an upper deck above that will be included, but I'm feel confident that whatever is constructed there will be designed to accommodate a future upper deck above it.

We'll take our time and get it right. For now, our double-wide in the sky will have to do.

Approval was granted by the legislature in 2012 for the addition of 8,000 seats and a new press box to be built in 2016. That was in the literature sent out with the season tickets that year but didn't elaborate any further. I've seen where some have said that we don't need the additional 8,000 seats but I look at it from the prospective of having attended ECU games since 1992 when we were not filling 35,000 seats completely to today where are generally in the 95% capacity range of 50,000. If we go the 58,000 or so we will eventually have the demand to put asses in those seats. Attendance has grown over those 22 years that I've been going to games and it us my opinion that the demand will be there in the future to need those additional 8,000 seats. I have heard that renovating the swim team's facilities are planned as well so that may put the South side of the stadium back a little beyond 2016 but it will come.

It sure is nice to be in a league with programs that have fans that care. If Memphis stays on course they could and probably will lead the league in attendance.

UC's capacity this season is only about 42,000. While they are playing at PBS, they are not opening up the upper decks (the lower bowl was essentially sold out for the Miami game last Saturday).

UConn has its lowest attendance since before moving to FBS and the new stadium (2003). Pasqualoni killed the program like he was working undercover for Boston College.

We're bottoming out right now. It's sad to see our stadium with open seats.

Look at it another way. Since others are counting off site game attendance against their percentage capacity, UC is really over 100% capacity so far since the pre- redeveloped Nippert seats 35,600.

Hell don't feel bad, we are topping out(to this point following 10 win 2013) and there will be plenty of empty seats when we play Uconn on a Thursday night

How many fans can Memphis get in the liberty bowl for a consistently top 40 team? I say 40 because that's usually where people say "hey, they have a good team this year."

How many alumni live in the area or driving distance?
I imagine that a fair amount of locals will support the tigers just because they're the local team (works for us a good bit).

Big city + Memphis alumni + no NFL team nearby - local fans and alumni of SEC teams = ##,###????

I know y'all have well above average basketball attendance, but I imagine most of those people go to the football games anyway.

That's great! Memphis should be doing whatever possible to get P5 schools in the liberty bowl. There is a football void in that city. Alabama, Ole Miss, Miss St, Arkansas, Tennessee and Vandy should be on a constant rotation. Mix in a PAC12,Big10,ACC,Big12 school and BYU, they would be averaging over 50,000.

That's the thing about memphis, if our teams are trying hard and are at least decent our fans will turn out in throngs. Case in point our m bball team. Since the first beast raid killed our true rivalries and scheduling memphis kept striving and the fans kept coming. You either support your team or you don't opponents be damned.

I ve been hearing 60k for ECU capacity all year now. That would truly set us apart and put us above 1/3 to half of the cartel 5

Even at 23,805 that would put Temple just slightly behind Ohio at 24,119 and ahead of everybody else in the MAC.

After the Nippert renovation, we'll have a capacity of 40000. So, if you take the current attendance average, we'll be at 92% - 36919/40000.
