I didn't realize Pittman was a former NIU coach...that dude is the best OL coach/recruiter combo in college football IMO. We're lucky to have him.

I think NIU has the right DB'S to get past the big OL. And that's with speed pass rushers. Let's hope the 330 lb lineman can't move laterally

haha saw this on their message board in regards to our o-line:

NIU may not be a cupcake... matter of fact, they may be pretty good... but... I will bet good money we beat them rather convincingly at home.......

FWIW, their OL is really small. Not sure that matters, but I think they average well under 300 lbs.

yeah...we haven't seen a line like that since Florida State...and our Defensive Front did NOT handle that well.

Probably a better oline than Florida State, but at least they don't have the defense of FSU, that hopefully will keep it from getting too out of hand, maybe 2 to 3 TD differential instead of 5 or 6

You're damn right on that. He is a KEY member of that staff. BTW, impressed with the quality and depth of staff that Bielema was able to put together.

If the game does turn one-sided you always have to worry about Mr Bielema, Im not sure I have ever seen a coach take so much pleasure in making the opposition look bad. That could be another reason the line has boosted so much, the dogs (or I guess hogs) wont be called off if things get ugly.

Our only hope is to score early and score often and to get some turnovers. Tough duty for a QB making his second ever start. That said stranger things have happened and NIU is not without offensive weapons. I sure hope that Tommy Lee is fully healthy and that they use him to return kickoffs and as a good receiving option if Brown is double teamed.

IMHO, we don't have a chance in this one.....HOGS crowd will be pumped as well as the players. I expect them to run it down our throat - let's see if you can stop us. Arkansas is coming on as a team. Last I checked the pt spread was 14 pts.....I expect the spread to move up a bit.
We might hang with them in the first half, but their RB tandem will wear us down. I'm not trying to be Debbie Downer, just being realistic. If I'm wrong , I'll eat crow.

Don't buy into the big conference hype. We'll be in the game until the end and hopefully we'll make the big play to win it.

I agree, by the 4th qtr our front 7-8 will be tired. I hope our O can wear their D down a bit. I wouldn't be surprised if we are either in the game or if we're are losing by more than 20 in the 4th. It's hard to tell how good either team is.

I certainly don't buy into big conference hype, my fear of a blowout comes from watching Arkansas this year.

The Texas Tech team they beat isn't what it used to be. Texas Tech barely beat Central Arkansas and UTEP. And while Arkansas hung with Auburn for a while they got shut out in the 2nd half and lost by 24.

I know everyone thinks their size is an advantage (and it probably is in the run game), but does anyone think they may struggle to pass block our quicker, faster d-line. I'm picturing Ford coming off the end and their OL like a tree trying to tackle a RB.

Get a lead.

I think we'll have an idea how the game is going early on. If NIU is having a fair amount of success on the ground, they got a shot. All about how our o-line blocks their d-line.
