Not only did this fireman teach his kids to be racists and play the race card, he should be fired and fired NOW. Watch both videos and then try to anticipate Fibud's response.

Out of Oakland, California comes a story of such a claim being made, that a white officer used inappropriate force and threatened to shoot a black man. The black man in question is named Keith Jones. He also happens to be a firefighter.

Jones was returning to his vehicle at 10:45 pm following an Oakland Raiders game with his sons, ages 9 and 12, when he noticed the garage door of his fire station open. He figured the guys left quickly for a call and forgot to shut it. He walked through the station to make sure that everything was okay. As he emerged from shutting the door, a white police officer, who happened to be a rookie, was responding to a possibly burglary in progress and confronted him. According to Jones, the officer yelled, “Don’t move. Put your hands up.”

Jones told KPIX5, “His hand was on his gun. He was crouched, he was low. He was basically in a shooting stance.” He continued saying how his 9 year old was crying, so he told the officer, “sir, my name is Keith Jones. I’m an Oakland firefighter. I work here. Those are my kids. Could you please allow them to put their hands down and let them know that it’s okay.” Jones then claimed the officer looked at him and said, “Keep your hands up and don’t move.”

The news story goes on with Jones and his kids saying they thought the officer was going to shoot Jones. He added that, “I think they [white police officers] view black men as a threat.”

There’s only one problem with Jones’s story.

The officer in question was wearing a body cam. The rookie police officer was wearing a body cam that caught the entire thing on tape. It proves one thing. Jones was not telling the truth about his altercation with the police officer. In fact, some people might say he’s a liar.

Is this what things have come to – blatant lies that could end a man’s career and livelihood told just to push a race-baiting narrative?

The only problem with firing him is the IAFF will fight tooth and nail to keep him on the roster and paying union dues.

I've taken numerous leadership courses with fellow fire officers from departments in union friendly states who have horror stories about how it is impossible to get rid of incompetent and even criminals in their agency because of the IAFF.

The reporter saying he should have at least apologized to the fire fighter, I heard him say he was sorry twice should he have got down on his knees and begged for forgiveness? I never heard the officer raise his voice like he felt threatened and was about to take aggressive enforcement measures either. One thing I will say is someone should teach the officer to type he didn't look like the fastest typist in the world.

What kills me is this firefighter was ready to destroy the cops career and livelihood and didn't bat an eye. He's also teaching his kids to play the race card. This is the kind of thing that causes riots and visits from Al Sharpton and investigations from Holder.

The thing I noticed about that was the he had to type the info in, instead of being able to optically scan a bar code or read a magnetic strip.
My DL for GA has 2 bar codes on it, for different readers.
My renewal sticker on my auto tag has a bar code on it as well.

New technology costs money and we can't waste money providing our public safety agencies with up to date equipment when there are ball fields and community centers to build.

Well, looks like Mr. Jones had his 15 minutes of fame on the local news. What a great dad, father of the year.

Overall I'd rate the officer's professional conduct a 9 out of 10, probably didn't need to check the ID's, why would anyone have a OFD ID to break into a fire station but he went by the book maintained control of the situation without escalating the situation to a point where a direct threat of deadly force was ever made. We should hope that all cops conduct themselves in this manor.

Since these agencies keep time-stamped records of dispatched calls by law, and such records are subject to FOI requests it seems like a fairly easy thing for you to disprove since it seems to bother you so much.

Truth of the matter is it doesn't matter in either case if they were responding to a call or drove up on it on routine patrol, in both cases brought up in this thread the officer(s) involved were justified for making contact for what they perceived to be illegal acts and video evidence in both clearly shows they dealt with the situation in a professional manner.

Cop did everything correct and the fireman is a scum bag.

It bothers me because my wife has been stopped before for bogus reasons. On time a cop pulled my wife over and made her get out of the car claiming that the car had been reported stolen.

Cops pull this shite all the time.
