“She told me, ‘Ray, we are to go through these stacks and pull out anything that might put anybody in the [Near Eastern Affairs] front office or the seventh floor in a bad light,’” says Maxwell. He says “seventh floor” was State Department shorthand for then-Secretary of State Clinton and her principal advisors.

“I asked her, ‘But isn’t that unethical?’ She responded, ‘Ray, those are our orders.’”

Why does that end the thread? Are you saying that support from Heritage means the content is untrue? If so, do you apply the same to anything supported by, say, Brookings? If not, why not?

This is one huge problem with intelligent debate. If the left simply dismisses everything that come from Heritage or Cato, and the right simply dismisses everything coming from left-leaning think tanks, there can be no common ground from which to engage in legitimate discussion.

Let's try a different approach. Let's start from a rebuttable presumption that things are more likely true than false, that differences are more often due to perception than reality, and that the goal intelligent discourse should be to reconcile those perception differences.

They didn't cover up anything. The State Department's own investigation revealed major problems within The State Department. Start at Page 4.

And your claim that no one answered the phone is totally without merit. There is no evidence that the appropriate parties in DC weren't notified ASAP of the attack. And there is no evidence that Obama was not in the White House. There is also no evidence that any additional action would have saved Stevens life other than action by the CIA team on the ground who for some reason waited too long before going in.

And newsflash, every American on duty across the world is in harms way, 24x7x365.
