Has the New Playoff Changed How You Watch Football?
I have noticed in the first three weeks that I am following more G5 games on TV and paying more attention to G5 Conferences than ever. I could really care less about the top tier of the P5 and haven't watched any of the "Important Games" Now that every G5 program is gunning for that sacred access bowl spot, are you paying more and more attention to other G5 conference games? Are you paying less attention to P5 Football?

I know that I used to root for the non-BCS schools against BCS schools before. Now, I tend to root against the Boises, ECUs, NIUs, and Cincinnatis of the world.

Nope. If anything, I am completed aggravated by the fact that each week, prognistacators feel a need to pick the 4 teams who will be in the playoffs.

AGREED! We get beaten about the head with the $5 programd by the National Sports Honks day-in, day-out, I have been avoiding those games & just catching the highlights on Sports Center. Give me the G5 game(s) any day! I just seem to enjoy them more, and they tend to keep my attention longer, as well. And it is ALWAYS SWEET when a G5 team knocks off a $5 team, no matter WHO it is!

RE: Has the New Playoff Changed How You Watch Football?
I haven't watched a P5 vs P5 game since 2007. And until Sat I hadn't watched ESPN Gameday since 2011, and if they hadn't had a piece on Cato I wouldn't have watched it then.

If Marshall isn't playing I will look for a CUSA game on this includes looking on ESPN3 or FoxSportsGo. If I can't find one I will look for a good IAA or DII game on.

I never was one to root for the Boise's, Nevada's or Utah's over a P5 school just for the upset. If it isn't Marshall I couldn't care.

I am already weary of ESPN trying to narrow the scope to just the 4 playoff teams, the same way they tried to turn MLB to just the Sox vs the Yankees, with everyone else as nothing more than background noise.

Easier for them to package and sell, but it gives me even more satisfaction to find the real story of this season of college football hidden in lesser discussed games, especially G5 games. There is so much good football being played beyond the 10 teams ESPN obsesses over.

RE: Has the New Playoff Changed How You Watch Football?
Because of the whole 4 playoff teams stuff, a lot of fans are tuning out of the talk. This saturday, I found myself switching back and forth between ECU,FIU and Marshall. I couldn't tell you who the p5 schools were playing if it wasn't a team vying for that G5 access bowl spot. I also found myself rooting against Boise, NIU etc.. because I want the Access slot to go to CUSA. The G5 top 25 is more important to me than the AP or Coaches at this point. I want to know who Tech could possibly play if they go to the Bahamas Bowl or the New Mexico Bowl. I don't really give a dang about who is gonna win the Big10 or the ACC. I'm more interested in who will fill the 6 seed for the HOD and whether SEC and ACC will fill their slots for the Indy Bowl. All this being said, these were all valid concerns prior to the playoff, but now I'm more compelled to ignore "BIG FOOTBALL" than ever.

I just watch my favorites and ignore the rest more or less of every level unless a specific game outcome impacts one or more of my favorite teams! I don't watch or really listen to those sports talk shows -- I flip it over to HGTV, DIY, or something of that nature...

I watch more G5 games than ever and pull for conference mates more than ever since there is not only the Access Bowl on the line but also another pot of money divided by the G5 depending on the ranking of your conference. Much less P5 interest than usual.

I don't watch Cartel teams at all. If there's a G5 game I'll watch that. If not, I'll watch those programs that I recorded. Say NO to the Cartel 5 and Espin.

I am. Seems like every year I care less and less about the cartel schools. This year with the way the G5 is setup to compete against one another, I have really focused on G5 games.

I'm about ready to let the big schools go form their own semi-pro NFL minor league. Their players aren't students, the fans aren't alumnus, and the traditions are becoming ESPN marketing.

I think espn and the pack of 5 shot themselves in the foot. I watched only one pack of 5 football game so far, because I dvr'd it, and it involved UTEP.

I used to be one of those guys who would work my schedule around football season to make sure I got my saturdays off to watch football.
I am watching less and less football every year. I almost never turn on espn anymore.
Espn, and the big time colleges have ruined college sports for me, and espn/disney's obvious political leanings have turned me off even more.

RE: Has the New Playoff Changed How You Watch Football?
eSPN is trying to make the G5 irrelevant but it has actually made the non-top 5 P5 irrelevant. Based on espn, Those in P5 conferences that don't make the playoff are not worthy of Espns attention. Look at the big 10. Makes the G5 more fun to watch since every game counts to conference strength and only 1 of the G5 make it to the access bowl.

I don't watch any P5 vs P5 unless it's the top teams playing each other. The middle and bottom P5 are the ones who got screwed by the new setup. No one wants to watch Iowa vs. Iowa State because who wins doesn't matter. ULL vs. Boise or FAU vs Tulsa are more important to a G5 fan because conference strength is important to G5 and not P5.

I cut the cord right before football season so I don't even have ESPN and I don't miss it. Always the same thing and the same hype for the same teams. I watch as much CUSA games, either through my local sinclair station or online, as I can and only watch P5 if it involves a CUSA team.

It has made me not care. It's gonna be 4 teams from a pool of about 20 of the same teams forever. No mystery. No intrigue. The are even running a commercial that says all the previous ncs don't count. Just don't care. What other sport was as great as college football that could have 2 national champions. It's all fricked up now. I don't give a tinker damn. College football is becoming background noise at a sports bar

I ignore the P-5. Frack them. I don't give those games the time of day unless a G-5 is playing them.

Group of 20...No, more like a group of 8-12. With someone sneaking in every 4-5 years.
