Once again, a lot of respect for us. A few that say the game will be easy for the Hogs, but hey, let 'em keep thinking that!

Loved this quote!

Quote:NIU is a solid team, they have depth on both sides of the ball and are well coached.

Those of you who think they suck are idiots. This will be a good game, if we dominate I will come away impressed. Glad its at home.

Even though no one is talking about NIU this year because they lost Jordan Lynch, they are still a very solid team.

I like this one:

"
I guarantee this will be a tougher test than Texas Tech. UNI is well coached.

We will probably win due to our superior athleticism especially on the LOS but we can't take anything for granted."

You may be the first person in the history of the internet to refer to the Arkansas fan base as "Smart."

Try living with them.

They are talking on radio call ins down here about possibly competing for a big bowl now that they beat Texas Tech. Never mind the fact they have to play A&M, Alabama, Ole Miss, Georgia, Missouri, LSU, and Mississippi State still... They beat Texas Tech...so Championship.

Keep in mind...they wont play Arkansas State for similar reasons that Illinois wont play you guys...so I may be a tad bit biased.

Understandable. Ark State has had good years in the Sun Belt to be a tough mid-major (haven't followed them tho). But Arkansas trying to get their sh!t together the past couple years, understandably wouldn't want to play Ark State quite yet. To them it's probably "too soon"?

I've been shocked Illinois never played NIU in recent years, tho. Shocking. WMU has played Illinois more recently than NIU has!

WMU & CMU plays Michigan State or Michigan about every other year. Next year, Michigan State plays IN Kalamazoo AT WMU.

Unbelievable. Is it a 2 for 1? How does the money work out? Congrats on your road win.

Yes, the Mich government got involved and ordered the 2-1 to happen between MI St and EMU/CMU/WMU.

No, it's not the Mich Govt. :) Yes, it's 2-for-1, for EMU/CMU/WMU. I guess MSU wanted it because they could "spread their name out there" -- plus, they'll have MANY fans at each place. Way more MSU fans at EMU than Emoo fans, actually.

Of course, we won't make any money on our home game against MSU -- we in some sense have to pay half of what Their stadium seating revenues would be if it was in East Lansing, more or less. Kind of the same as when we had VaTech come to Kalamazoo... and Indiana.

Big schools don't come to MAC stadiums because they won't make any money... a MAC school will PAY them to come once in a while, so to speak. The problem is they're scared of playing the MAC team on the wrong year at THEIR stadium when their fans are going to be rocking like crazy. They want to avoid an upset. MSU picked a good set of years to go away for a 2-for-1.

This makes so much sense. For MSU, it gives their fans around the state who don't have/can't get tickets for MSU games at Spartan Stadium a chance to see the team. Illinois doesn't have this issue because it's always easy to get a ticket to Illini games (assuming you'd really want one).

Keep in mind that Waldo has a capacity of 30,200. That's 25% more seats than Huskie Stadium or 6200 more tickets they can sell. Makes a big difference when you're negotiating to get a school like MSU (or Illinois) to play at your place.

Illinois wouldn't play in DeKalb if NIU said they'd give them $500k for that game, in a 2-for-1. They'd rather play Illinois State who'd give the Illini $5 to play there. :)

True. And we also have a grass field section in a corner which adds to that official/unofficial seating.

Record Attendances:
Quote:36,361 Indiana State (N) W 2000
36,102 Central Michigan (N) W 1999
35,874 Youngstown State (N) W 1999
35,107 Northern Illinois (N) W 1998

I was at NIU once a LONG time ago (99?). I can't remember if you do or not, but if you guys have grass seating area, you could add another 5-6k or so.

But you guys are expanding the stadium though, right?

i believe the Ohio gov requires the bucks to play an Ohio school every year, keep the money in state. UI is paying EMU $1mill to play

We dont have enough grass to hold more than 1000 people as it is now. With some minor dirt work and walls we could have a party deck that holds 1500 but don't see more then that without bleachers like WMU has in its endzone.

We should get word soon on the athletic master plan but we have been waiting on that since Aug 1st.

Actually, it's a 3 for 1. I think it's a really great thing that is happening though. I'm not as familiar about the financial aspect. What do you mean about paying half of the stadium seating revenue?
