Remaining Undefeated and Winless Teams (after week 3)
Note: I added a list of winless teams for this week. Will add 1 loss team list within next couple of weeks.

Teams with first loss week 3: 22
Indiana
Virginia Tech
Central Michigan
Maryland
Louisville
Wyoming
Kansas
Texas Tech
Iowa
Georgia
South Alabama
Minnesota
Illinois
Army
Louisiana-Monroe
Kentucky
Rutgers
New Mexico State
USC
Tennessee
Texas State
Nevada

Percent of Last Week's Undefeated Teams with 1st loss:

Week 1: 31.00% (40 of 129)
Week 2: 36.36% (32 of 88)
Week 3: 39.29% (22 of 56)

Week 3 Thoughts:

-It’s kind of odd to still see the weekly percentage of 1st loss teams increasing. Last year it decreased for 4 weeks before we saw a rise.

-A lot of action relating to the Group of 5 CFP bowl slot. This could well end up going to a team with losses, but an undefeated team will certainly have a leg up. We started this week with 10 Group of Five teams undefeated, including at least one from all 5 conferences. We are now down to 3 teams and with the Mountain West and Sunbelt off the list. The remaining teams are Marshall (Conference USA), Cincinnati (American), and Northern Illinois (MAC).

-Based on this list so far (which admittedly tells only a little, contains a small sample size, and includes more in-division games in the east), the SEC West definitely seems stronger than east. There are 6 undefeated teams in the west and 2 in the east.

-For the 2nd week in a row, a top ranked undefeated team played a team expected to finish in the mid-range of the ACC and lost (last week Ohio State to Virginia Tech, this week USC to Boston College).

-You’ll see the winless team list added this week. There is one team from one of the power 5 conferences and it is Northwestern who seems to have been cursed since Gameday visited Chicago last year.

-Another bad overall week for the Big Ten. Only Nebraska and Penn State remain undefeated and both have shown major vulnerabilities.

Week 4 Thoughts:
-We have 4 undefeated teams playing each other next week. They are Auburn @ Kansas on Thursday, Florida @ Alabama, Mississippi State @ LSU, and California @ Arizona. We also have one other game between ranked teams as #22 Clemson play at undefeated #1 Florida State.

-We have Northern Illinois playing at Arkansas in their final non-conference game. We have Miami (OH) playing at undefeated Cincinnati. We have undefeated Marshall playing at Akron.

-Other games involving undefeated (several with potential for upsets): We have undefeated Nebraska traveling to Miami (FL). Undefeated Georgia Tech visits Virginia Tech. Iowa plays @ undefeated Pitt. Maryland plays @ undefeated Syracuse. (Side note: The Big Ten really needs some out of conference wins here). Undefeated North Carolina plays at East Carolina. Undefeated Utah plays at Michigan. Oklahoma plays at West Virginia. Tulane @ undefeated Duke. Undefeated Texas A&M @ SMU. Virginia @ undefeated BYU. Indiana @ undefeated Missouri. UMass @ undefeated Penn State. Presbyterian @ undefeated North Carolina State. Georgia State @ undefeated Washington. Undefeated Oregon @ Washington State. San Diego State @ undefeated Oregon State.

Remaining Undefeated Teams: ACC: 7, American Athletic: 1, Big 12: 4, Big Ten: 2, Conference USA: 1, MAC: 1, Mountain West: 0, PAC-12: 8, SEC: 8, Sun Belt: 0, independents: 2, total: 34

RE: Remaining Undefeated and Winless Teams (after week 3)
I put the over/under for first time losers this week at 7.5. Last year six teams went down in week 4, four of them to other unbeatens. Three of those were conference games.
