I've seen it mentioned on the boards, that "polls" shouldn't come out until mid-October, and I agree with that statement. Or after 1/4 of the season. Basing rankings on the previous season's result(s) just doesn't make sense. Graduating players, coaching turnover, suspended players, etc. need to be considered, IMO. Any coach will tell you, every year their team has a different makeup/personality.

I'm okay with a week one poll, I just don't like the preseason polls.

Those are all politics, and the number next to your name is considered in every subsequent poll.
