I'm starting to believe. Still waiting to see how they do once conference season starts.

Uhh...not that I don't enjoy raining on the UALR Parade every now and then, but have you guys played anyone of note yet? Chicago State, MVSU, Southern, and UAPB are historically awful at soccer.

That is part of the problem following soccer: we don't know much about it. But we will take the wins.

On the other hand, a shot at goal is a shot, no matter who makes it, and our goalkeeper is not allowing many of them.

You should try it. Its actually not that bad. Provided your AD isn't in the Press Box running his mouth during the game or something.

We've got a Soccer/Volleyball doubleheader Friday, and I'm leaning towards attending both games.

I really enjoy watching soccer. The fluid nature of the play is pleasant to watch, and I get it that constant scoring is not the point, but the constant threat of scoring. I just do not understand the finer points.

My 90-year-old father likes watching it on TV. "They run all the time."

I didn't know the rules either until I spent an entire morning watching nothing but Premier League Soccer. Got everything covered now.

Probably my favorite sport to watch, if I have not idea or interest in who is playing. The skill level of the best European players is just amazing to behold.

I'm betting you couldn't get this interim AD near a press box right now. And especially if it had a microphone in it.

That's exactly what you need.

Any timeline yet for when you guys will make the full hire? Do you think your current interim will get it? I've heard good things about him

He is like a breath of fresh air, and most fans I've talked to are thrilled with his new attitude and enthusiasm. I initially did not believe he was a candidate and did not think he was interested in the job. I am not as certain at the moment. I could see a groundswell of local support changing the dynamics. If important people, who know a lot more than me, think he will be the best man for the job I have no problem with it. Still, at this point I believe we will do a national search, hire someone from the outside, and don't think that will happen until 2015.

I got this off the University website-

Denman, a 1974 UALR alumnus, was the architect of UALR’s first comprehensive campaign, completed two years ago, that exceeded the $75 million goal, reaching $103 million. This was the largest fundraising campaign in the university’s history.

Two things immediately caught my eye. He is a UALR alumnus. Just like your AD. I think having someone who truly cares about the University (i.e. has it in his blood) can be extremely beneficial. It is more than a job, it is a passion. However, the other thing is the year he graduated (1974). My college class was 1977 and I'm 59. Everyone has been talking about getting someone young and he certainly does not meet that criteria (although he certainly looks good for his age). The last thing is the guy can apparently raise money. Not the easiest thing to do at a commuter school- while on campus life has grown recently, the folks who have the money to give surely never lived on campus. Still, he was able to convince them to give and give big. Also, maybe having him for 3 or 4 years just to "right the ship" is not such a bad thing.

What he hell does the fact that someone thought of as important people have to do with it? Just because they may be important in their particular field, or even in their own minds, doesn't mean they know **** about how an college athletic department should be run, or that they know anymore than you or I. As you said before, and I agree, Denman is refreshing breath of fresh air, and he's saying all the right things, and evidently doing some of them, but he has no background in college athletics. I'm tired of this ole "he's a nice guy" ****, and "who can we get that would be any better."

By "important" people, I meant Dr. Anderson and the selection committee. Important because they will be the one's who will make the pick. I wasn't referring to their status, income, or anything else.
