VT and SC are really good teams. ECU is no fluke. Coach Ruff has laid a foundation and it's all coming together. What a class act! A players coach that teaches through Ruff love and positivity. All of Pirate nation needs to recognize how lucky we are to have him. I think most already know.

Interesting to see things from the coaches perspective at the end.

That was an awesome video. You can really tell how much it means to Ruff and how much he loves the players, the other coaches, and ECU. This is a special time in the history of ECU football to have a guy like this as head coach.

After rejecting Ruff, Texas Tech, and for only $3 million a year, has the privilege of Kingsbury leading them to 6-6 on an annual basis.
ECU is grateful.

Texas Tech not as dense as Maryland rejecting interim coach James Franklin, but close.

We have a really good deal right now that most schools aren't fortunate enough to have with an alum coach that wants to be here. I would be honestly floored if Ruff left or even really entertained any interest from other schools.

Other than Riley I think most of our more important parts are likely to retire here or have to be fired to leave.

Ruff- Head coach, Alum
Smith- DC, been here under several coaches
Kirkpatrick- Recruiting Coordinator, been here under several coaches
Conners-Strenght coach been here under several coaches
Doll- special teams coordinator, Alum
Wiley- associate head coach, older close personal friend of Ruff, left DC job at App to be here
Yellock-young quality coach Alum

If Riley does leave I think Kirkpatrick or Nichols would be a good replacement at OC. Kirkpatrick was an OC at Louiville and UT Chattanoga and former head coach as well. Nichols is another Texas Tech guy that was at Arizona before he came here. I'm pretty confident both could keep the play book and the offense going. We really got a lot of continuity, likely stability, and quality coaches.

Love seeing Ruff and Lincoln Riley killing it! I watched that entire game and cussed Ruff for not taking the easy FGs! Thank goodness the deserving team still won.

I wasn't crazy about that call either but when Harvey is so shaky, it makes it at least a little more reasonable.

I didn't like it either, but I can understand the thinking. A TD there buries them, we'd been moving the ball at will, our FG kicker is really shaky and with VT's history at blocking kicks that could have turned into a game changing special teams play. Also the way our defense had been playing even not getting it they'd be pinned deep and our defense then did their job and got the ball right back on a pick.

I wasnt too upset for going for it but I wasnt crazy about the pass. I felt we should have run it. I wish we would have run it a little more to run clock. Still glad we won but I expect to go more towards the short passing game and screens and take shots when they present themselves against UNC. We will shred their defense.

For ECU unfortunately a 30yd FG is not a sure thing. Beamer ball makes a living off of blocking FG's and we had just had one blocked at SC. It would have been a game changer if VT had not only blocked but scooped up and flipped the field or even scored. I would have preferred to see Brice come in on a blocking package and release like a goal line situation across the middle for a jump ball and first down.

I think it sucks we still can't count on our FG kicking unit and hopefully can work on it once the OOC schedule is complete. I know scholarships are precious but I would go out and recruit a solid FG kicker because in a close game it can mean everything. Harvey looked good at times vs South Carolina but he needs the FG unit to do their jobs as well.

Any time it's 4th and less than 6 in enemy territory I'd like to see us go for it unless we're having one of those games where we can't seem to move the ball.

You have to assume we'd make it more times than not.

I agree, it baffles me that we can have a good team but be so unreliable at FG kicking. I really would like us to give Davis Plowman a shot. Unfortunately Harvey has a confidence problem, and when kicking you have to be confident to make sure your mechanics are correct because the tiniest adjustment will throw the kick off and thats what we've seen all too much. That position is just far too important to be that incompetent where we have to think about going for it every time on 4th down in the redzone.

Great win for ECU. We need someone to step up against the P5 schools this year. UCF certainly isn't doing it.

We'll in fairness he was 4-5 before that with his only miss being a block. It is hard to shake the memories of how shaky he was last year but he was pretty good his sophmore year and actually all conference honorable mention on 15-20, including a 54 yarder. Hopefully we can get that version because he has the potiental to be pretty good.
