Can We Do Something?
Like make this a invite based board, hidden from people who come here merely to attack us, or make another one of us Big Ten fans a mod just here to protect this place from people who just want to attack and troll the Big Ten fans? Both would be nice, just would like to see this board grow without interference from fans of other conferences.

I dont believe this board should exclude people from posting. If people want to troll, then let them troll and just ignore them. Attacks on the big ten are fine as long as they dont get personal or offensive. Also any attempts to sell something should be banned. I am also not a big fan of moderators who ban posters with little explanations.

Just try to be polite and ignore posts that attack you personally.

Any other board here it happens the mods warn them and control it, everyone already piles on us on the C&R board and I'd just like a safe haven from it, which I feel our home board should be.

RE: Can We Do Something?
I hate it when people tell someone to dont let it bother you, but from what I have seen, its not that bad.

The BigTen just possibly had its worst 2 week period in its history. Idk, 2012 was a bad year too. But you knew the shots were coming. SOME is over the top, but The BigTen just absolutely sucks this year. How can anyone argue otherwise?

Of course maybe I dont care because I have conceded that my team, Iowa, was over-rated. There is still hope for MSU.

Thanks Hawkeye.... I think Sparty still has a chance to represent for the conference too. I know we lost by a substantial margin to the ducks , but for a majority of the game i thought we were in charge of the situation. The ducks are a crazy quick team and definitely deserve their place in the rankings.

RE: Can We Do Something?
The honest truth is that Michigan State is the Conference's best hope. Ohio State is close but Virginia Tech now looks vulnerable where as Michigan State's loss was to what will likely be the number 1 ranked team at the end of the season.

A week 2 loss isn't all that big of a deal if MSU beats OSU mid season and then beats 11-1 Wisconsin in the last game of the season, the Championship Game. That could get MSU into the Playoff.

It is too early to tell but conferences like the SEC and Big 12 appear to have a lot of parity this year. MSU could sneak in with those big wins and only a single loss to a possible #1 ranked Oregon team.

The old Big East board had a members only section. You had to be invited to join. It was a place for us to post about actual games and issues without the constant trolling from fans of ACC and then CUSA schools. Irony is, now all those trolls from CUSA schools are now residents of the AAC board and complaining about all the fans of new CUSA schools trolling their board. At any rate, I don't see then problem with a private board. The only thing is the open board is so under used, I would be concerned about it getting bumped back to proving ground status.

Seems like quite a few Rutgers members stopped posting once Rutgers was going to the Big Ten, there's also a couple of Big Ten team fans over on the C&R board but have their PM disabled so I can't invite them here.

For now it is what it is. This forum is just starting to become active. I will take the (so far) occasional troll issues as things get rolling. If we were to see significant growth and the growth in trolling that will likely come with it then I can see talking to GTS about a Members Only section much as the old Big East had.

Rutgers really never has had a super prolific base of posters on this site as our Rivals site is our most popular and a highly active site.

The Rivals site will still be tops for us; but rivals isn't used widely throughout the Big 10, and you really have to join the hive mind to be able to post on BWI. It would be great to have the conference wide board here take hold.

Hi. I lurk on the B1G board here, but haven't posted much. Most Rutgers/B1G chatting I do on Rivals. I came to CSN only for James Madison, since most of their fan talk is here. I like the setup here better, but it just hasn't attracted the critical mass that Rivals has (for better or worse).

I regularly visit Rivals, but prefer here, especially lately since all the threads are RU and PSU fans flaming each other.

Ahhh yes, a proper rivalry in the making. I'm sure they aren't as bad as Michigan and Ohio State fans yet but....they ARE East Coasters. 04-cheers

Once in awhile I used to get into it with Ohio State fans on the Rutgers board (often in jest) and the Rutgers posters would stand back and comment "I guess it's true, they really don't like each other... how cool is that?".

On the other hand, the brave PSU posters on the Rutgers board who come waving a white flag are going to get shot down as soon as they are in range.

Take no prisoners! The posters on our Rivals site are all zealots looking at the world through Scarlet colored glasses. Sometimes they actually scare me.
