My opinion does not matter one bit but here it is anyway.

The one thing that humans (believers and non believers) as a whole may have entirely wrong is the concept of time. Humans are linear beings so everything is related on a straight line. There is more and more evidence that time is not linear but circular. Which means there never was a beginning and never will be an end. Humans are linear creatures and have a hard time grasping the concept because we only see the universe in our extremely small life span.

Another issue on mortality is that science proves energy can never be destroyed nor created but only transferred. This means there is a finite amount of energy in the universe. Humans have a small amount of energy that is measurable. When you die where does that energy get transferred to?

Religion is not the answer to all things but neither is science. The same physics that govern heavenly bodies does not work on the molecular level. Thats how string theory came about. So science can seem absolute but it is not.

The important thing is that you have an open mind and make the decisions based on what you decide.

I think most physicists would say that the physics that govern heavenly bodies (great word choice) and molecules are the same, what is not the same is the physics that we use to explain them. The whole problem is that they should be the same.

It's a problem of our lack of understanding rather than a breakdown of physics.

As to the OP, I'd be a 6 on the Dawkins scale. My parents are good people, I was brought up as a Christian, I went to a Christian elementary school. As I got to the age where you're intelligent enough to start questioning things that you once took for granted it didn't make sense. The whole idea just didn't add up. I never saw a reason to have God as an explanation for anything. Sometimes there was a better answer than God and other times using God in place of ignorance just didn't satisfy my intellectual curiosity.

I was a hardcore atheist (aka a dick) from about 13-16, when you're in that know-it-all stage of life, but since then I just calmed down to a very much live and let live way of looking at religion.
