Insanity of realignment:UConn makes more in 1 bb game than in AAC TV revenue combined
So UConn is going to play in the Atlantis basketball tournament. They are going to receive $2 million as their appearance fee.

This appearance fee is more then they will receive from ESPN, CBS, and ABC for all of its basketball, football games combined (including women's) for the entire year of programming.

Another scary stat:UConn will contribute more tv viewers/eyeballs for ESPN than 5 of the ACC's schools COMBINED in ALL sports. And for that privilege these 5 ACC schools will receive approximately $100 million to Uconn's $2 million.

The point of this thread is? 03-banghead
It's pretty well known what the AAC tv contract is.

The OPer is a known hater of all things UCONN! The point of this thread is to throw chum in the water for the other UCONN haters to throw in their 2 cents (1.5 canadian).

Ahhh I get it...the OP is a fan of one of those small Catholic "Leach" schools that lived off of the football schools. The ones that Luck and Pernetti slammed before leaving. That's ok though..Georgetown and Nova will soon tire of carrying their weight too!

Your math sucks. Those 5 schools will get 10 million---not 100 million.

I know they're playing at Stanford this year and they were at Washington last year, but it would be nice for UConn to come out west a bit more often. UC Santa Barbara is a nice destination for a road trip 03-cool

UCONN (men and women) usually do a trip out to the west coast every season. With Ollie's LA roots, I wouldn't be surprised to see more of these games in the future. 04-cheers

I'm not sure that there is a math error? Each ACC school receives approximately $20 million per year. The bottom 5 ACC teams will receive a combined $100 million per year. Those 5 teams COMBINED will have fewer viewers for all sports than Uconn. So Uconn provides 5 times the content and receives only 10% of the revenue. It just is crazy how such a system can exist.

04-cheers I can see UConn scheduling a 2-for-1 with Long Beach State or UCSB in the next few years. North Carolina has done that with both of us recently.

UCSB signed a pf/c who played hs ball not too far away from Storrs (New Canaan, CT). Maybe a homecoming of sorts will be in the works. We need to play more of the big boys anyway.

Regarding BE4evah's OP, it should be remembered that many Nbe/AAC fans posted their Times Square Banner pictures, outrageous claims, and taunting of other conferences as inferior on the CUSA and MWC board. BE4evah makes a valid point.

I see where you're coming from. For some reason I read that as AAC instead of ACC.

This is not an apples to apples comparison.

Comparing appearance fees with tv rights?

Why not compare all the revenues teams get for all appearance fees or buy games or whatever you want to call it? That would be a fair comparison.

Link please. This would be believable if you said more viewers than 5 different Acc Schools, but you said UConn gets more viewers than 5 Acc schools combined. Not believable.

I am guessing he is including the NCAA championship run in the his numbers?
