I don't see CUSA having trouble filling all their bowl slots this season. I believe ODU and UTSA will prove to be excellent additions in the long run. UAB added a great coach that could turn the program quickly. UTEP's HC has them heading in the right direction and I could see them competing for the West

What's not to like? Eliminate the body bag games, which no expected us to win, we've either won or been competitive in most every game. Plus we are undefeated against G5 schools after 2 weeks, with 4 more to go next week (Come on Marshall, MTSU, FAU and USM). Both divisions are more competitive than we all thought they would be, and we seem to be in the national conversation as a conference "quietly making its case" to quote one wag in an article about C-USA.

We need to keep this thing going. the sky's the limit

The conference can be better than what it is now. Taking out the G-5 programs was much needed this season. Now it's time to start winning the winnable games against the P-5 programs.

Have to enjoy the good times. Because they never last....

That said, I'm happy with what CUSA has done. Can't help wonder what would have been.... if UTSA had beaten AZ, UTEP had beaten TX Tech, etc.

We're doing a very good job of beating down the G5 opposition but we desperately need big P5 wins.

I know it's a bit off, but MT has BYU at home and they could be top 10 by that time. If MT wins that game...

We will take care of that with Auburn. Be right back, need another beer.

Our CUSA is now a perfect 11-0 vs. American, Mountain West, MAC, & Sun Belt.

Opposite - Sunbelt does 0-10 this past weekend.

My opinion of CUSA is just as it's always been from day 1. CUSA is and will be fine with the new additions. We have the exact same access as the other Group of 5 Conference schools have and the important thing is winning. The assclowns that left with their noses in the air acting like they "made it" was hilarious and the begining of this season only confirms it. Lots of season to go though but solid start for sure.

JUST KEEP WINNING.

I'm really liking the new CUSA.

MT, LT, NT, and WKU will be solid programs year in and year out.
ODU and UTSA look like really good adds in great locations.
USM won't stay down for long.
Marshall/Rice are known quantities.
I think we'll get one really good program out of FIU/FAU, don't know which one though.
UTEP need to get back on their feet.

I think will easily be the top G5 conference. We just need someone to carry the flag and become a giant-killer, like Boise.

Agree with all of the above but didn't UTSA and La Tech join CUSA at the same time? Both came from the WAC

Yes. The simplified timeline:

After Houston, SMU, Memphis, UCF:

UTSA, Tech, UNT, ODU, UNCC, FIU

Then, after Tulane and ECU left:

MTSU, FAU

Then, after Tulsa left:

WKU

Better than I thought it would be.

Bottom teams are still really bad (FIU and us), but there are several good teams.

RE: What are your honest opinions about the direction of CUSA football after week 3?
The scheduling has been good. We've played a lot of weak G5 teams but that's not our fault, before the season one would have thought that Houston and LaLa would be good quality opponents. Most of us (i.e. everyone but FAU's accountants) would probably like to see fewer body bag games and more winnable/competitive/good TV slot P5 games.

The attendance has been good for the most part. Of course scheduling and performance has a large effect on this.

On the field has been very good, there are several teams that look really good. Getting a read on the likely champions is much easier in most other conferences. Not being able to keep up with the weaker P5s is of course the main negative from the season so far.

Top teams are actually really good and bottom teams are actually really bad. There's a good mix of good and bad and fortunately I think the good is weighing more than the bad.

From the "outside looking in", I say DAMN FINE JOB, CUSA! Teams have been answering the bell and knocking off folks left & right! The on-field product has made for enjoyable, very "watchable" games, for the most part! UTSA & FAU have impressed, as well! Here's hoping USM curb-stomps Appy State! What's the tv covereage on that one?

My honest impressions about the CUSA.. looking good so far..

The scariest part is that with how young UNT is you will never know what team is going ot show up. Now with the new Rs FR QB, this season is all about developing for the future.

I fell that there will end up being a ton of parity in the west and throughout the conference very few absolute cellar dwellers.

Better than expected, with an even better future.

This conference has a huge upside now, and with our large television markets we will be able to leverage future media contracts as we continue to increase our visibility.

Look, football popularity is moving south (and west); out of the northeast and out of the rust belt.
Recruits want to play in the sun as well.

This is a great now, and long term, our future is bright indeed.
04-cheers

I think our conference is looking good as far as on field performance.

I am extremely disappointed with the attendance numbers for this new conference. My gosh, that by its self makes our conference look bush league imo.

Rice will likely notch another win for C-USA against the MWC when we play Hawaii on October 4th at home.
