Second grade common core work sheet...
This is the “second grade common core” work sheet my son brought home last week.

First of all, it’s pretty much the same counting by tens he did in kindergarten,
but more importantly it contains two obvious (or not so obvious) errors.

03-lmfao

and fit defends Common Core.

Nevertheless, you need to rethink sending your kid to public school.

He’ll go to private school when in sixth grade.
In spite of the dumbed-down math this area has the best public schools in the state…
and it won’t be long before Georgia completely fires Common core.

RE: Second grade common core work sheet...
That's not a "Common Core" problem. It's idiot publishing. :)

And I wouldn't really call that the new "common core" thing per se -- that kind of stuff has been around since god-knows-when. It's nothing different or fancy -- just a publishing errors, so I think to bash the new common-core stuff -- this is barking up the wrong tree.

And publishers will sell to both public & private places.

The Real issues with Common Core -- now there are some! Granted, it's a new feeling out thing, but some Concepts are just kinda weird/dumb.

I'm a fan of hitting math on different angles to make one think differently, and to look at numbers in a different way to some degree. Story problems are great... I've seem some Common Core stuff that was a great angle on things, and some completely ridiculous (even Stephen Colbert bashed one example on his show a while back).

I 100% disagree. Word problems in math are the damn devil.

RE: Second grade common core work sheet...
The errors in the work sheet are not the real issue
(although it’s mind-boggling how that gets to press)

It’s the fact that my son is in second grade and is doing worksheets similar
to what he did when he was in kindergarten before Common Core was the standard.

Fortunately his school participates in “Sunshine Math”,
an elective non-Common Core advanced math work.

Assuming you're still in the Atlanta area...what school district is your son in? I don't have kids and I may not ever but if I do I'd prefer them to be in a better school system.
