those Syracuse-penn state games ive heard conflicting info . Some say there off the schedule but some say there still on. BC has games to schedule for next year after army is off there schedule and rumored new mexico state cancellation

What are you hearing about PSU? I know Pitt is trying to get a long term deal with them, but I thought the prospect of doing that was slim.

insiders I've messaged say they aren't a lock to be played in 20 or 21 even though they appear on fbs schedules site but nothing definitive on either end

RE: Scheduling OOC in future years - Semi OT
I'm very pleased with VT's out of conference scheduling which has attractive matchups every year through 2023 but am concerned about the number of years we only have 6 home games.

2015 - 6 games
2016 - 6 games
2017 - 6 games
2018 - 7 games
2019 - 6 games
2020 - 7 games
2021 - 6 games with 1 TBD
2022 - 6 games with 2 TBD
2023 - 5 games with 2 TBD

With donations down and attendance down, it has to place financial strain on the entire athletics department only having 6 home games for so many years.

Aren't most of the years with 6 home games also including a neutral site game? That's what ND has been doing lately, 6 home, 5 away and 1 neutral. Guessing a neutral site is a lucrative deal for both?

I'm wondering if they are possibly backing out of your series in order to play more games with Pitt? Maybe there is some back channel pressure within the state of PA to get Pitt and PSU to play a long term series. Pure speculation on my part, because I believe the prospects for a long term series between Pitt and PSU are dim.

Yes, that is true. We have a neutral site with Tennessee in 2016 and one with WVU in 2017. I'm sure they'll be included with our season ticket packages. So that is effectively 7 home games for those 2 years.

Hmm. Didn't realize the neutral site games were included in season tickets. I would think it'd be better for everyone if they were sold separately, though maybe give season ticket holders first refusal.

By included, I meant the season ticket holders would have the option of buying them. I believe the ECU game was included with season tickets but that caused such a big stink that they made them optional. For the Cincy game, you didn't have to buy them if you didn't want to.

Good!
1) season ticket holders shouldn't have to buy them
2) the team can charge more if they are not season tickets
