Way to early to start this thread wait until each team has at least played a conference game.

USM should have some hope that it will click and they start playing better. We will loan you DC Manny Diaz during our open week. He has our D playing outstanding.

RE: C-USA Championship race (9/12/2014)
I know its early but after looking at schedules rest of the way and results so far it seems to me CUSA East is still Marshall's to lose, 2nd place I think will be winner of WKU at MTSU Saturday with UAB potential to play spoiler against the loser for 3rd.....I think ODU, FAU and FIU round out the bottom of CUSA East....

In the west I think its between UTSA and La. TEch with RIce and UTEP as potential spoilers for 3rd and 4th....With North Texas and Southern MIss rounding out the bottom

I think we are going to have several 6 and 6 teams this season with 8 teams being bowl eligible:

East
Marshall
WKU
MTSU
UAB

West
UTSA
La Tech
Rice
UAB

Agree here. After the AAC has another OOC beatdown week, their posters should start to worry less about the Access Bowl and more about how many of their bowl slots they will leave open for extra C-USA bowl qualifiers to claim.

RE: C-USA Championship race (9/12/2014)
If you looked at UAB objectively last year we had a horrible coach and staff yet lost three games on the last play. A whisker away from 5 wins. The team quit on McGoof in the USM game. Last year's team had the talent to win 6 and this year received a significant upgrade with some key guys. 6-6 was a realistic prediction this season with a good shot at 7 wins with troy the swing game.

Looking at them from afar I can see how people are surprised. That said a lot of work to do.

Marshall is still the team to beat and yea I think UAB will play spoiler.

I noticed that too. UAB is in the east division and the west. I think UAB is good this year so maybe 4th in the west but 2nd in the east.

That's how I see it. Fourth and second all though I would not rule out third and second.

Thanks.

I started doing this back in our MAC days. I'll admit, the first time I posted it was to poke fun at somebody, although I don't remember who. But I kept doing it because it was interesting. It has demonstrated over the years how important early season divisional games are.

Of course, North Texas isn't eliminated so early in the season. But they will have a very difficult time getting back in the race. The same is true for the loser of tomorrow's game between Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee.

I think UAB is a dark horse in both division races. It's not unthinkable that UAB could be playing with themselves in the championship game.
