NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- Oklahoma and the University of Houston will open the 2016 season at the home of the NFL's Houston Texans.

The Sooners were originally slated to begin the 2016 season at home against Louisiana-Monroe, but Oklahoma said Wednesday that game has been moved to Sept. 10, 2016 - a week after the opener Sept. 3 in the Advocare Texas Kickoff at NRG Stadium.

That's been known for weeks now, the biggest news in the past couples days in the 2019 return game (kinda sorta) at Oklahoma.

Bummer that the game won't be on UH's campus.

Only helps OU by allowing them to have 40,000 plus of their own fans at the game in Houston...kills UH's home field advantage.

Houston is not Rice, which is outnumbered in their own home games against many regional teams.

I think this series is sort of a wakeup call for OU. OSU answered the call last year when they played a neutral site game in Houston. The Big 12 teams are beginning to realize what I have said all along.

A&M is the big dog in the Houston market. Now that they are in the SEC the relative close SEC schools like LSU and Alabama are making in roads into Houston area recruiting. LSU played in Houston this year for a reason.

Personally, I think the Big12 should have taken Houston instead of TCU. But the Big12 and their forerunner the Big8 have always been lax in leadership.

I think we will see more and more Big12 teams scheduling games in Houston. And if they expand, I look for Houston to get an invite along with BYU
