Should've been a sellout before the season started, but oh well.

I agree. This is basically a "what took you so long" moment. I bet most people would have just assumed it was. It would have looked more impressive 04-cheers

You can't announce a sell out until the tickets are actually sold!!

Student allotment just went for pick up this week, also, have to add in returned tickets from UNC (if any, think there were), and tickets held back being released. Most of the few tickets left when the season started have gone to students this week. Expecting 14,000+ plus students.

Also, the time wasn't released till Monday, some may have been waiting on that.

We just had to wait until UNCHeat returned their unsold tickets so we could spend 2hrs selling them and declare a sell out

True. But UNC just returned 2,000 tickets(Per Pirate Radio). That will put a delay on any sellout. Pirates stepped up and bought those which is a good thing. The fewer UNC fans the better.

I hope that's the only reason it took until now. I have to wonder what the turnout for the SMU/Tulane games will be like. Certainly not expecting sellouts for UCF/UConn.

Have to wait for extra student ticket pickup, just like any other game

@ShelleyBinegar
ECU vs UNC FB game SOLD OUT. Better get your SMU tickets now!

That leaves me to believe sales are going well. Being homecoming and all, but Tulane we will have to wait and see.

Sellouts do not happen that often.
This is the 6th sellout since 2010 expansion and first since 2011.
6/26 games.

@ECUAthletics
It's official! The East Carolina-North Carolina game has officially been sold out. First time since 2011 against UNC. #ECUndaunted

@FO_SammyBatten
#UNC will be the sixth sell out for #ECU since expanding Dowdy-Ficklen to 50,000 in 2010.

Those Twitter accounts are wrong according to the fact book on ecupirates.com. There have been 10, including VT last year. Several at 49/48k too.

ecupirates.com
Fourth Paragraph down.

"The sellout marks the sixth for East Carolina since a 7,000-seat expansion project was completed in 2010 to push Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium's capacity to 50,000."

Granted after saying all that I did see in the Factbook and there was 10 games with 50k+.

Seems we are at an impasse. This tell us one of two things.
1.Beringer & ecupirates.com are wrong(at least conflicting reports)
2. 50,000 is not a sellout.

Most people to ever see a game @ DFS is 50,610
This will be the 6th sellout(if true) then we need somewhere around 50,191(5th largest game) or greater to have an official sellout.

I believe the 50,610 number is before the expansion. At one time we had temporary seats in both endzones but the City of Greenville later determined them to be a safety hazard and they were removed. They where PGA quality seating...they look like some of the newer staduims being built in the last few years.

Nope. UNC game 2011. All the 50k+ came after expansion.
