RE: Players
Top line Kovacs with anybody else....possibly Pitt and the German.
Maybe....Kovacs-Nong Lambert- the German
Anyway you look at it...I believe like Balisy last year....Kovacs is the key. Does anybody on this site realize what Kovacs did last year...assists to Balisy and Bershbach...key overtime winner....2 shoot out winners. I've liked this kid since I first saw him as a freshman....and with decent playing time last year he did much better! Now! With maximum playing time...I believe he can and will shine and carry us this time!

RE: Players
Kovacs should make a big difference, but it will take more than him. AM normally doesn't depend on his freshmen all that much though.
Juniors will have to step up big time this year.

RE: Players
Ok Bronco7, I'll bite in order to get some discussion going on your thread, but I expect you to follow up with your line up

First let me say, there is a lot of speculation here, as players can make significant gains in the off season. Who's the next Hafner or Kovacs? Also freshman, there is a bit of unknown how their game will transition to the college level.

Murray seems to like to have a "shut down line", so we need to find 6 guys to fill those top two scoring lines. I got 4 locks in Hargrove, Pitt, Laport and Kovacs. The other two spots are up in the air and as many as 6 guys who could step in. So forwards lines could look something like:

Hargrove-Laport-Pitt
Kovacs-*Novak-*Muir
Mckee-*Kessel-*Dreis (shutdown line)
*Mellor-**Hadley/**Rebry-**Nong Lambert, *Tiffels, Carpino, Osborn

Muir, Novak, Kessel, Dries, Mellor and Tiffels are the 6 guys who I think could end up on the top 2 lines. Mellor, Hadley, Rerby and Nong Lambert could be 3rd line/shut down candidates.

I think you see a lot of line combination the first couple of weeks and a clear picture will develop.

The Blue line is a bit easier, as I think the top two pair will be the same pairs from last year:

Nitsche-Morrison
Dienes-Fleming
Stewart-Goff/Moldenhauer/Stoykewych

I think Stewart may be a regular on that third pair and either Goff, Moldenhauer or Stoykewych will rise to the occasion or rotate in.

In net I like Hafner over Slubowski as I thought he was more consistent last year.

There you go......

IMO I think the last pair should be Molderhauer and Stoykewych. We'll see what Murray actually does this weekend though.

Yea, Murray has several options there. I was thinking Stewart would be in the line up for sure during the early part of the season (like he was last year), at least until some of the freshman got thier college legs. Whether or not he is a regular will really depend on how those freshman progress and get acclimated to the speed of the college hockey game.

With Morrison being a flight risk and Stewart graduating, getting those freshman a lot of playing time this year is very important.

Fever,
I think you hit the nail on the head. I think those top 6 are accurate with movement among all 6 and i think Nong Lambert and Dreis getting looks on the top 2 lines at some point if we see a lull in the offense.
As far as the D.....I think you're spot on there as well by placing a offensive D with a more Defensive D. this will keep them both in check and allow the Offensive D (Morrison and Dienes) to take a few more chances.
As far as the netminders go.....Hafner came on strong, but i also think Slub will get back to his old form and intensity. He knows he had an off year and i think he's ready to go this year. I think this year is a toss up on who gives us the best shot at winning. Only time will tell.

Lines will change a lot in the first few weeks with injuries to a few players right now.
