Really hope they can fix their issues over this off week, go after WIU and win 5+ games this year.

Well, I sure hope they approached their preparation for last week poorly or were giggling on the sidelines or something. Otherwise, he just threw his team under the bus for something that ultimately is his responsibility.

Hey Fitz, want to know how to most easily lose a team? Do what you just did.

They lost their three best skill position players at their QB blows. Not sure how much better they'll get.

+1

nothing motivates like being told you are an embarrassment by the guy in charge. for some of these guys he is the closest to a father figure.

Prater can be very good as can Jackson out of the backfield. Simien can be accurate when given time to throw. NW's problem is the offensive line. If they come together later on they can win a few B1G games.

Well, if you go to the original Inside NU SB Nation post that the quotes come from, in the comments, you hear a lot of the usual P5 garbage about how they are getting better recruits and should never be losing to a MAC school.

OK. I get it. We said the same thing when a very good EIU team pushed us to the brink a year ago.

However, anyone who watches that game will immediately notice that the team in white was hellaciously fast compared to the plodders in purple. They were also physically stronger (see: Jason Meehan & Perez Ford ritualistically taking sh*ts in the decapitated heads of NU linemen on every play). Sorry guys, your star rankings don't spot you 20 points at the beginning of the game. It was obvious that NIU had the more talented players Saturday.

Now, is Northwestern gutless? Maybe. But who recruited those guys? I suspect NU has a different gear that they haven't shown yet this season, but will they ever show it? Not if the coach is calling his own team a bunch of pu$$ies in week 3.

It cracks me up that the NU fans still don't seem to be able to wrap their heads around the idea that Pat Fitzgerald has had the longest honeymoon in college football history. He hasn't answered for how that program, coming off a Gator Bowl win the day we played in the Orange Bowl, has found every possible way to lose in the next 20 months. And, got their d*cks kicked in the dirt by one of those "MAC teams" that seem beneath their contempt. Just like how there's a hell of a lot of difference between them and Ohio State, there's a hell of a lot of difference between us and the Eastern Michigan team that they play almost every year. Not acknowledging that is intellectually lazy.

And they should know better. They rose to prominence the same way NIU has, by taking guys that were a good fit for what they did. And they've (or at least their program) lost sight of that.

F*^k Northwestern.

Well said. I knew we had better athletes than them. Before the game I told a Northwestern alum that they only way they could win that day was to use a run-heavy, clock-eating offensive approach to shorten the game and keep the ball away from our playmakers. He laughed at me. He was not laughing afterward.

RE: Pat Fitzgerald calls team Embarassment
I thought I was going to read more quotes from Pat Fitzgerald when I clicked on the link, but all I got was the headline and his censored comment.

SI seemed to fill in the details themselves.

This line annoys me a little.

Last week, Northwestern lost 23-15 to Northern Illinois, which lost star quarterback Jordan Lynch from last year's team.

I guess there was a word limit, but the implication is that Lynch was the only good player on the 2013 Huskies. It fits the stereotype that the top MAC teams will have a one player the big schools missed to help their team full of mediocre players beat the other MAC schools who only have mediocre players.

Nice report. Your colorful language had me laughing multiple times. I love it! COGS
