Quote:if you look at both of the teams offenses last week...55 seems like a lot of points...
28-27... not high score, not low scoring. They assume mid-majors put up points on the board, and with NIU last year -- the ability to give AND of course get a lot of points, I can understand that.
NU got ~400 yards on offense, roughly the same as NIU. 40 yards more than against Cal, but 10 less points (11 pts, but assuming by expectations not going for 2) due to sloppy play by their O. And NIU had their own weird O production where the yards didn't match points too.
I think if NIU played NU again, it'd be close, and it'd be higher scoring reflecting the yards on the field.
However, with UNLV? Their O kinda sucks, but you have to assume they're getting things together -- and unlike a BCS conference, UNLV is looking UP at NIU coming in. The mid-west version of Boise coming into THEIR house. They're going to be prepared from practice to kick off, so one has to assume they'll be fixing some 'bugs' in their scheme.
I think NIU winning 35-20 sounds about right -- and that's 55 points. Or a closer game, due to Hare floundering here and there and NIU shuffling QBs? 31-24? 55 pts.
I see 55 as a good baseline.
