I think this is a problem/benefit for the top Cartel schools since their fanbases are made up of a significant portion of Walmart fans. Most fans in the MAC, CUSA, SBC and even lower level Cartel schools are mostly graduates of those schools.

49R, you have just enlightened me. I thought only the kitty cats from Lex KY gained most of their fans from Walmart. But, upon further reflection, I am sure most of the P5 schools have the same attraction/recruitment strategy.

I estimate about 1 out of 5 people in Tiger Stadium actually went to LSU . . . those that actually graduated are much lower. Wal-Mart is the biggest bandwagon parts dealer in the country.

You must not have even been in a store in North Carolina before, else you'd know this state is covered in a hell of power blue merchandise. South Carolina is the same, except its garnet everywhere (except the I-85 corridor where its orange and garnet together).

Other than the TV revenue, I wonder if Maryland is going to rue it's decision to join the BIG? The ACC is on the rise, while the BIG...Not so much.

As my signature implies; just about anywhere Virginia that college merchandise is sold, VT stuff is in abundance above all others.

I am very well pleased with the local support we are getting from the Norfolk community that otherwise has no ties to the University. I will be beyond thrilled if ODU ever approaches the level of popularity and recognition enjoyed by the Hokies.

Maryland is not very happy, and they weren't when the decision was announced. The money will fall gradually but they'll notice it and be left on the short end of the stick.

UNC, NCSU, UVA, Pitt all come to mind.

ACC on the rise? I see one really good team and a bunch of average to below average.
13 wins against FCS teams, 6 against FBS with home games being the differences between wins and losses against GSU and SDSU. Florida State is real good. The rest are average at best that will pad their win totals to get bowl eligible.

If I were Maryland, I would definitely stay in the ACC if allowed. Not only is football on equal footing, ACC basketball is the best there is.
