NIU in B1G Power Rankings
Saw this posted, thought it was funny.

Guy put NIU in at 11 to make fun of the bottom feeders of the big ten. I remember toward the end of last year, Robert Smith and Scott VanPelt said niu would have been the 4th best B1G team.

RE: NIU in B1G Power Rankings
I'm waiting for Maddawgz to tell us how terrible this propaganda is, the Big 10 is overrated, and there is no question NIU deserves to be at the top of the list since only NIU and Michigan State are undefeated in Big10 play since the start of last season.

I'd have NIU 2 or 3 spots higher, but not bad.

I would say that's accurate and fair. Not an exaggeration of a mid-major-fan-high-assumption, either. It's actually solid by objective betting-odds standards.

Agreed.. at least 2 or 3... the problem is I think everyone thinks about NIU as the VISITING team and how we could hang.. I'd put money on NIU > Minnesota in DeKalb..

RE: NIU in B1G Power Rankings
I had a discussion with one of my B1G alum friends this morning regarding this article. He said it was a slap in the face to NIU to put them where they are. That made me smile.

Truthfully, I think middle of the pack. We would beat Indiana, and probably one other out of the rest of them. I think Michigan is better than this makes them out to be.

+1 on some home games against the teams above us on that list. Although we have become a good road team.

I agree. The current rationalization for Huskie "upset" of NU last week is to downgrade NU more than to upgrade NIU.

If NU can not win more than three games this year (W. Ill, Illnes, and Purdue) then the analysis is proven correct, but if NU can get wins against Minny, Nebraska, and Michigan, they could become bowl eligible.

Mathematically, they still have a shot at the B1G championship, but let's not get too crazy.
