Not at all concerned about the Sun-Times; it's days are numbered.
"Print media" is not dead, but it does have to change to survive. A good example is the Trib. The digital edition of the Trib gives you everything that's in the print edition, it's easy to navigate and costs just $10/month. And, you get sharing options that you don't have with the print edition.
For the majority of NIU fans, "print media" is still the #1 way they get their NIU football news.
Without any figures, I'm just going to assume you're making that up/stating an opinion.
May 2014 figures show the average Sunday circulation of the Trib was 789,915 and the average weekday circulation was 439,731. When you add in circulation for the Daily Herald, the Rockford Register-Star, the Daily Chronicle, the Sun-Times and others, it's pretty obvious, isn't it?
And every single one of those people are Huskie fans?
How are we not expanding our stadium to fit all these people in?
Never said they were all Huskie fans. Just saying that far more Huskie fans get their NIU football news through "print media" than any other way. IMO, the number of NIU fans that rely on social media, HustleBelt, SBNation and other web sources for NIU football news is still relatively small, although I'll grant you that number is increasing due to the preferences of younger fans.

Even though I don't agree with it, I do respect your opinion.

RE: Chicago Media turning around?
We still have a long way to go.
A chicago sportscaster put up a facebook status on Sunday listing the chicago sports failures for the weekend (Bears lose, cubs/sox swept, etc) and then tossed in "Northwestern losing to a MAC team."
"A MAC TEAM" ???!!!
You mean the one whos been the best team in the state for half a decade and has a trip to the Orange Bowl?

I guess this is like Reality TV or half the stories on social media....we will have to "wait and see" in suspense.
Just no new IPHONE ad to watch for 5 seconds then hit skip.

RE: Chicago Media turning around?
I know people on the board like to trash 670 a lot, but 2 of NIU's biggest supporters in the Chicagoland media are part of their team: Laurence Holmes, the evening host who has frequently said NIU is his adopted college football team because DePaul doesn't have one, and Barry Rozner, the Daily Herald columnist and former Northern Star writer who hosts on the weekends and occasionally fills in during the week.

In the big picture I would agree however they do report on College Athletics, and when they do it's al about Notre Dame and Illinois and Northwestern. Comcast Sportsnet reported the game from a Northwestern point of view. It was all about how Northwestern beat themselves. No positives for NIU other than Logan making the top play.

Had this game not occurred on the same day as the last ND Michigan game I think it might have had better coverage locally.
Tribune coverage has fallen off with Mitchell but he also covers the Bears, Cubs and Sox. Ryan covered only NIU football last season.
Barry Rozner the best(he is a true fan so that help a ton).
Sun Times is awful.

RE: Chicago Media turning around?
this focus on newspaper coverage still amazes me....an earlier post saying that a large number of NIU fans rely on print media for their football news. I just find that hard to believe given the decline of newspaper readership. Just wondering do the local TV networks give NIU any love? I'm talking their weekend sports programs. Do the local network affiliates have any programs centered on coach's recap on games?

I have not bought or read a hard copy of a newspaper in years... but I still use their websites.
