Exclamation FB: Non Qualifiers 2014 Class
In the 2014 class, we had 6 non qualifiers. That's about 25% of the class and far too high. Granted, we swung hard on a few and missed. CJF and staff back filled with some last minute JC signees. Bonner, Brown, and Matthews were projected to be big time players. It's a reminder, that the staff really needs 2 more years to get our numbers fully deployed. An article earlier this year referenced we are using all 85 schollies, I'd argue that +15% may not be D1-A talent.

RE: FB: Non Qualifiers 2014 Class
So, what happens to the guys who committed and then went JUCO? I used to hear about teams "stashing" players at JUCO and then bringing them on campus once they got the academics straight. Are the Tigers able to do that, or is the re-recruitment wide open on these players if they do get their grades.

Just trying to get a feel for whether last year's signings on these players were "wasted" or not.

Juco's are free to resign with anyone.

Yeah, I thought that was the case. What I was really asking is whether we have enough horsepower to keep a kid committed thru JUCO. I can feature an $EC team having enough appeal to make sure the kid stayed in their camp after he finished his JUCO stint.

For us, I would expect that if the player really shines, then he is going to look for a much better college slot than in the AAC. Conversely, if he does poorly, then he might slip enough that we would not offer him again, so then he would drop to the Sunbelt or even a D-II like the OVC, etc.

Biggest need in this upcoming recruiting class is LBs....both in quality and numbers. Hopefully, Thomas Brown is in school and will be eligible in the spring. I expect us to take at least one more JUCO LB, and probably 5-6 total.

I would hope only 1 JUCO LB in total and 2-3 HS. I see us focusing on DL, WR, DB, and TE.
