Head just north to Sanger and eat at Babe's. It's the best fried chicken I've ever had.

This. But get the fried chicken. Seriously, you don't even need to look at the menu.

Also, the original location is in Roanoke and is still my favorite. It's a quick hop down 377 from Denton.

You sound like someone who didn't order the fried chicken.

04-cheers

That place isnt even in my top 5 best fried chicken places I have eaten at. Best place I have ever been is Gus's fried Chicken in Memphis.. Babes isnt even in the ballpark.

As far as food goes in Denton, it really depends on what you are looking for. For things for a gameday selection (or the day before):

Fuzzy's and Rust Taco are good for Tacos
LSA is a decent burger joint, same with Denton County Hamburger (as long as their location near University is still open)
Roosters isn't a bad place for a blended selection of redneck fare

Most of these are off the square, so they are fairly easy to find.

The best fried chicken is at The Slogar in Crested Butte, CO. I don't think there's a defining restaurant of Denton where it's 'you must eat here!' quality, but there are several good ones.

Rudy's, New York Sub Hub, Cowboy Chicken, Beth Marie's, Old West Cafe, J&J's Pizza, and Frilly's are places I usually hit up while in town.

I can't believe there is a place with better fired chicken than Babe's. Are any of them in the DFW area?

Hannah's is still open and thriving.

I was going to suggest Greenhouse, Abbey Inn or even Loophole. The latter reworked their menu (and overhauled their interior for that matter) and have become quite the nice place to drink and eat.

Hannah's Off the Square is outstanding, but pricey.
