Money talks, Penn St. just found out the NCAA will drop their bowl ban. Absolutely disgusting the total lack of institutional control that let someone so close to the program use university facilities to molest little boys and the cover up included all major players at the school. I'm still not sure why the sleazy program did not get the death penalty.

I'm happy they dropped all that crap. I never thought the penn state issues were football related, and all those who contributed should be in jail. Punishing kids and coaches who had zero to do with any of that never made sense to me.

Clear NCAA double-standard. Wait...the NCAA is a double-standard.

Had the SMU violations of the 1980s happened 200 miles down the road in Austin, Texas would not have gotten the death penalty.

Had the Penn State mess happened at a non-Power 5 school, that school would have gotten the death penalty and the sanctions would not have been lifted early.

more likely they wanted the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's lawsuit to go away...

Should have just left it to the justice system. It was a criminal matter unrelated to any NCAA rule. Not only that, but where there was a gray area in NCAA policy at the time, they have recently enacted a rule instructing witnesses of that type of crime to do exactly what those inside the football program at the time (Paterno & McQuearey) did.

They did happen down the road at Austin. SMU was just the best target to go after. They had the most leaks, blatant infractions.

I don't condone what happened, however, the football players didn't have a thing to do with it. The program being punished was not the correct answer.

They should have burned down Beaver Stadium and salted the earth.

Don't want to hurt the kids? Fine.

One-time-only freebie no loss of eligibility transfer. Anyone wanting to stay for the education gets their scholarship honored.

I kind of agree with letting them be bowl eligible. The new guys at Penn St. had nothing to do with what went on so now need to continue to keep punishing them and their fans

Makes the Heart of Dallas bowl that much doable in us getting a P5 opponent.

UTSA vs. Penn St. would make an interesting matchup in Dallas
