Saw some video of some nasty cheap shots and several fans laid out and bloody in one of the tail gating areas. Where the hell was security. The video I saw on you tube of the brawl went on for five minutes. Pretty ugly.

UTEP has some real trash in their fan base. Any UTSA fan who traveled to El Paso last year saw that. It only takes a few thugs to give everyone a bad name.

I don't think anyone with any brains will be attending any games at UTEP. What a bunch of two bit thugs.

the good news is they were fighting at Las Palmas Lifecare Center so the ER was right there haha

that particular location isn't even on campus and most of them don't even go to the game. Since that location is not part of the campus, they can stay and tailgate through out the entire game.

I will put money behind this that a Tech fan started it. I saw a 20 something Tech fan knock out an octogenarian at a SMU home game for cheering for SMU

So this happened in Juarez.

You have to understand how unbearable Tech fans are. Going to a UTEP game is very safe.

That is private property and is rented out on game days. Texas Tech didn't have any involvement. The El Paso Rugby team was one of the groups renting the space. While attendance was 35K, there were probably 100K people in the area tailgating. No guns. No knives. Some cheap shots though. I think some of the comments above are unwarranted.

yea I saw nothing that looked like Tech fans it looked like all UTEP

Nothing against UTEP and I'm Mexican myself but as a people we fight too damn much when drinking. Seeing that doesn't surprise me.

On campus, near campus, a mile from campus, etc. One of UTEP's decades long problem is how to get everyone that tailgates to not only buy tickets to the game but to get them there on time. I wasn't exaggerating when I said there were about 100K around the UTEP area on Saturday. While somewhat a black eye, the video is "meh" considering how many people were in the immediate area.

Thanks Pony94. This was a rather isolated incident, on private property, that had nothing to do with the visiting fans. If you went by the comments in this thread so far, you would believe that UTEP invented the first ever (group) fist fight.

Really? I attended last year's UTEP/UTSA game. After the game as I was walking around the campus after exiting the Sun Bowl stadium some young UTSA fan notices me wearing a UTEP T-Shirt then gets in front of me, comes up close to my face and yells "Roadrunners!!! Ahhhhhhhhh!!!". In all my years attending UTEP games at the Sun Bowl that's the first and only time that's ever happened. I just ignored him and continued on after he got out of my way but don't tell me that UTSA fans are any better!

We all lose if we all start bringing up individual experiences and try to blanket an entire fan base. Then we are no better than the posters above.

I have eyes. I saw the video. To attack those that saw the video and say they won't be attending UTEP games after seeing the video is just not dealing with reality. I don't care if it was off campus or away from the stadium. I saw behavior that I have never seen close to any football stadium on gameday. While I am sure it is safe to go to games at UTEP, I would not take the risk. If this video had been shown to have happened before a USM game, I wouldn't blame others for not wanting to visit a campus where that thuggery and behavior was going on before a game. The video is real. The thuggery is real. So the possibility of it happening to me or others with me is real.
