Good lord. A Butch Davis mention.....

They also mention Larry Coker. Larry is like 112 years old, he's not changing jobs.

They mentioned the old guys as "these names will probably come up, but..." and then listed a bunch of young guys

Curious how long he keeps his job at Houston. At this point, every school in the AAC needs to make sure they have the very best Head Coach money can buy. Losing to Texas State and UTSA is should be unacceptable to the Houston Administration. There is to much at stake for each school in the American to serve as a proving ground for someone who can not win the games he needs to win.

Houston would be a very attractive place for a new head coach imo.

I'd take Larry Coker if I was SMU, and they could get him.

A young guy might be the way to go... and although he's young, I would think that our own Lincoln Riley would be a great fit.

However, because he's so young, most will stay away from him for now. Look at those currently mentioned as possibles and then towards Justin Wilcox (DC at USC) or the Polian (sp?) kid, the HC at Nevada.

You will do well with this hire... I can feel it.

SMU has 2 million plus dollars to offer a new coach. They will get someone good.

They are fools if they don't call Greg Schiano. Rick will play it close to the vest, and people can throw names out there all they want, but he's very much like his father in that regard. I just wouldn't be surprised if they don't reach out to Schiano first, then maybe Hudspeth.
Good luck to you guys and even though it went south for June Jones, he did provide some really great memories for SMU and worked towards getting it all back.

I doubt Riley gets a first time Head Coach job at a place that will pay $2 mil...that could be a big risk and as well, even though he has Texas ties, he has been recruiting the last 4 years in the Southeast, and very little in the Texas area.

Agree, i was just saying that with 2 million Cocker would go to SMU. Question, if SMU gets a proven, good coach, does this put pressur on Houston to do the same thing? What about Tulsa?

Just a hunch---but I think the administration was willing to ride out the 2013 revolving stadium year (while TDECU was under construction) with Levine regardless of how he performed in 2012. However, if the improvement in 2013 turns out to be fools gold--I don't think they will be as patient now that the new 40K seat stadium is open for business. My guess is that after the huge opening night belly flop probably cost the sell of several thousand season tickets---patience with Levine's growing process is probably nearing its end.

ULL fans might sell him off cheap after the Tech loss. He's actually starting to gain a reputation as a below average in game coach now.

But please take him. Our friends in Lafayette need to experience the thrill of a coaching search...so I can give them quality advice and stuff.

I listened to the press conference and our President and AD said an up and comer/assistant coach who has proven himself multiple times.

levine likely not fired unless 4 wins or less, and no matter how our fans like to exaggerate the isnt going to happen..

but if we did, we'd likely wouldnt spend crazy money, no matter what smu does, likely put up a mill and grab a decent spread OC
