RE: Game Thread: Florida
This team is NOT terrible, there is talent there, and they have worked very hard to get there. They are alot bigger and stronger than last year.
C.C and Deboer:
1) Roback should be the starting QB and figure out a way to protect him, so he has time to throw the ball, and is not running for his life. Roll him out, and bootlegs, he throws very well on the run, or give him a good pocket so he can throw. Plus, if it's not there, he has already shown that he can run.
2) We need to throw the ball down field. We have not run a fade all year yet, have not seen any deep post and slants. We all know Roback can throw the deep ball, but has not had a chance to do that yet. The 5yrd. Hitch is NOT working. We need to stretch the field. We need to move Creel around so we can get the ball in his hands.
3) We need to STOP the QB run plays they are not working. Your QB should not have more rushing attempts than our 3 good running backs.
4) We Need 2 or 3 different screen plays besides the bubble screen, which the opposing team is jumping all over it.
5) Most importantly, we need to find some receivers that can catch the ball.( Roback had 4-5 dropped passes in the Morgan State game, and at least 2-3 dropped in the Florida game. D1 players should not drop passes that hit them in the hands. ( Besides Creel and Russell, do we have anybody that can catch the ball????)
Defense:
1) Need to tackle better and secondary play needs to get better. We are too slow and leave opposing receivers wide open.

I agree hopefully we will see an exciting high scoring game next saturday.
I watched your opener vs Hampton on TV last week. You guys had a nice crowd and have a cool stadium (2 things EMU doesn't have). I also see that you guys played NC State tough. I hate to say it but ODU shoud have a win Saturday. Our program is down lower than normal.
Our stadium is kinda a modified old clamshell, very different. The game should be a sellout of about 20,000. We are in the early stages of getting a 30,000 seat stadium on the water at the back of our stadium that is expandable. I think your best bet against us is to pass on us. We have not defended the pass well of late. I would find a high scoring game interesting for both teams. It is probably a little warmer down here than up there.

Dear Friends,
Did anyone listen to Coach Creigton's interview after the game? He pointed out, how important it is to have a proper snap to the quarterback. If, the snap is too high or too low, the quarterback has to take his eye's off the receiver or the running back, and the delays the reaction time of the play called. I never thought that was a big deal, but it is.
The other thing of some of the criticism vented at Coach Creighton and his assistants, which may or may not be justified, but when I heard that statement about high snaps, I think he and his staff are paying more attention to details then people are giving credit.

Snapping the football is basic fundamentals. If coach Creighton has to begin with that, this team is in BIG TROUBLE.

Dear Bob Wickersham,
I think you are somewhat missing my point about coaching. If the staff sees that as a problem, what else are they working on to improve this team?
I did not have a chance to watch or listen to the game, but wasn't the center for the Florida game new to the position? I also think too many of us think we know what is best for the team, but we are not at the practices, and do not know what is being discussed on the sidelines of any game. It may be easy to see if a quarterback is having a bad day because that position is high profile, but what else is going on?
I will be attending the luncheon this Wednesday, if anyone has a question that they want asked, I'll try to get it asked.

There's a team down the road that is supposed to be a big powerhouse that also had a tough game Saturday. Although they gave up half as many points they didn't score any--- just like EMU. Should people be asking who the quarterback should be? If FLA was better than ND, should people be moping around wondering if they will ever win again? What should people do in this crisis?
I hope Eastern is able to beat ODU, but if they don't , I am convinced they will give it their best. We'll know whether they will be trying or not. If they are and they lose, I'll be disappointed . If they aren't then I will be doubly disappointed. But either way I will speak well of EMU and root for them till my last breath.

They are questioning who the QB should be and more so, who the coach should be.

Why is it so difficult for them to get a halfway decent coach? With all of their money, it shouldn't be that hard.

With their money, tradition, facilities, cool helmets, it is damn near impossible to screw that up, but they found a way...against all odds.
