Lions are a perplexing team. Cam Newton is no Matt Stafford, and Carolina's receivers are scrubs, yet our DBs can't even defend a Tony Sceffler clone, and their D can Blanket Johnson and Tate ar will, while totally stopping the run game. They should have a field day either through the air or on the ground, and at times they have, but because of turnovers or missed FGs they come away with nothing.

Might as well cut Freese and let Martin kick FGs, can't do any worse.

RE: Monday Night Football
I had a bad feeling about this Lions game... First, they are down to a third string OL who is taking the place of Waddle and Corey Hilliard... Had to know that was going to shakeup the running game and pass protection... You could see Stafford had his happy feet back... and started over-targeting CJ again.. Not to mention the defensive backfield was the same one they used in the fourth quarter in pre-season... meaning we are down to guys that were fighting for roster spots at the end of the pre-season out there playing... Losing Nevin Lawson (already a 3rd string CB playing Sunday) likely for the year didn't help either...

Sucks when we have to play with a piece of paper towel at RT and a couple of golf tees as DBs

but aren't you glad we have another TE from the first round that can't catch!? 03-banghead

Mark my words... Champ Bailey will probably be a Lion by end of week... he's old, but apparently worked out well for the Lions a couple weeks ago... brings another great pedigree to a young group that's going to be forced into playtime...

He's on the Vikings practice squad.

Mayhew is an idiot. He drafted Ebron TE in round one and Kyle VanNoy LB in round two. Neither of those spots were at the top of their needs list, but both were considered the best player available. He really needed to draft a corner and a safety at least in the second and third round. Even a RT would have been wiser than the route he went.

Fords are just too loyal to their employees.

On the other hand, I have not seen players go down at this rate in ages.

The lions are snake-bitten... look at what happened in the NYG game... they came out nearly fully healthy and marched all over them... then started taking injuries... held it together till half... made adjustments (which I haven't seen a lions team do in ages)... and kept the boat afloat till the end of the game.. impressively. Then they lose their backup RT Corey Hilliard for teh season right after he came in and took the place of the starter LaAdrian Waddle... Now Waddle is still out and you go sign a stop gap for a game against Carolina... The stop gap Garrett Richards was replaced before the end of the game by a true undrafted rooked before the end of the game... Now If I counted right... your are down to a 4th string RT... wow... And if I do recall... thats normally teh strong side that the lions like to run to... How does this happen? BAD LUCK... thats how. Don't even get me started on the injuries in the defensive backfield... Ihgidebo(sp?)... waste of an off-season pick up... I almost bet he doesn't play a snap this year.

Bobby Layne put a curse on them over 50 years ago. I'm a believer.
