Hopefully there is no letdown like Idaho 2009. Thats a big PS considering the weather, trip, etc.

RE: UNLV Spread
First they got killed by Arizona. No big deal there, but then they barely beat Northern Colorado, which apparently is not very good even for FCS. And I'm sure Vegas won't be as hard to get to as the Kibbie Dome. Still, any team with a decent passing attack is a threat.

But for a bowl game we get out there well ahead of the game. If we're flying in just before the game it might be a different story.

Now that we proved that the program can survive without JL, I hope we don't ruin it. Remember 2011, when we finally were favored over a BCS team (Kansas)...and lost. Take care of UNLV then start preparing for Arkansas.

RE: UNLV Spread
Yeah, NIU hasn't always played well west of the Mississippi but NIU is going have a large talent gap here. They're just flat out better.
Somewhat of a trap game and the weather and travel make me worrisome, but Carey and staff have done a good job of keeping NIU ready for crappy teams.
I felt with kill and Doeren they overlooked some teams, but the past season, when NIU would have had let downs they didn't. (Outside of Idaho)
Don't think they've ever played in dry heat, but last years iowa game was arguably hotter than any other type of weather most kids will play in. Also, they have a lot of Floridians on the roster. Coach ohrt is gonna be instrumental in keeping everyone hydrated and prepped for the week.
I'd also say a 12 point spread seems small. I may put some cash down for this.

Looks like UNLV can pass the ball. They probably will put some points up on our young secondary. Hopefully whoever is Huskie QB can move the offense from the start of the game. No slow start like the first half against Northwestern.

I think they will be okay. He got most of his yards vs. Arizona trying to come back. He's at 55% completions and has 4 INTs.
They don't like to run the ball, so passing is their go to. But they struggled moving the ball on northern Colorado. If NIU goes to man coverage and can get a pass rush with 4, they will be just fine.
NIU should have great success running the ball against their weak defense.

Temp will be about 96 at game time without much change throughout the game.
