Just think of the basketball and football power in that ACC:

Basketball Powers
Notre Dame
Syracuse
Pitt
Louisville
Virginia
North Carolina
Duke

Football Powers
Notre Dame
Virginia Tech
West Virginia
Louisville
Miami
Clemson
Florida State

My question is if the B12 came sniffing around Cincinnati, would the ACC proactively invite them to keep the B12 from expanding eastward?

RE: I had a dream last night and it was good for the ACC!
I had a dream that VT went into Columbus this weekend and punked the Buckeyes! I also dreamed that Michigan St and Michigan lost big time to Oregon and Notre Dame, so that the entire Big Ten was eliminated from the playoffs after just 2 weeks. Finally, I dreamed that Texas was destroyed by BYU (again), thus opening up a Top 25 spot for the Hokies, who jumped way up in the polls.

Man, what a wild and crazy dream!

^ -- again, what does Cincinnati bring to the ACC that it already does not have...?

And for those about to chime in with "exposure to Ohio", all it takes is a few home-and-home series with either Ohio State (preferably) or Cincinnati to get exposure.

The biggest question (which was kind of answered with Louisville's invitation) is this:

Would the conference receive a "significant" increase in TV money by adding Cincinnati football..? Not basketball (b/c the ACC is set there), but football..?

Until that answer is "yes", UC is stuck.

Building a bridge between IN/KY to the east coast. I'm no expert on TV Networks but Cincy/Dayton is a decent sized metro that would be helpful to the ACC.

That said...I'm not stating Cincy is the best play out there. I really think the ACC needs to figure out if 16/18 is beneficial or is it too big?

While I wouldnt mind seeing Cincy in the ACC since they are one of our rivals the smart move would be to wait. If/when the ACC gets their network, how much can made off of it by getting it on in Ohio? Can we make more with someone else? Whats going on with the Big 12? We need answers first.

That is a very valid question. I do not know the answer to it either.

I like Wilkie's ideal ACC conference. Notre Dame full time and the WVU bridge would be huge. The ACC would get a nice bump in TV money with these two schools added on as members.
ESPN would love to have WVU vs Pitt, Va. Tech and Louisville again.

I think the more important thing is that WVU is likely to say yes to the marriage proposal. The long distance traveling cost to other B12 schools is killing them. That window of the opportunity will be closed soon once WVU is settled in the new environment, even they are settled uneasily.

I think ACC add UConn and WVU today, and deal with Notre Dame later.

If we went 16/18 I would talk to ND first and get their input.

Maybe offer UConn or Cincy an all sports but for FB. Give one of them a 5 games a year in a scheduling agreement. Let them be eligible for our bowl games like ND...but not eligible for Orange Bowl. Sign them to a 10 year contract. Make sure they are paid more than the AAC teams are.

So initially it would be a 14/2. This buys some more time.
