We played great and have made big strides but I think UCLA is way overrated.. But no doubt we are much better and should have a chance in each game we play!!JMO

Don't look now, TC...but, if we beat Cincy is our first conference game, you can start dreaming of a conference championship. The conference schedule sets up VERY nicely.

That said, let's not jump ahead. A loss to MTSU would really hurt. Let's just get to 2-1 and then we can have this discussion in couple of weeks...

We are gonna Beat Down MTSU, and then be ready to go for what some might call an upset in Oxford, and beat Ole Miss.....We will be ready for Ole Miss after we beat MTSU.....Then After Ole Miss we beat Cincy, and roll through our AAC Schedule.....We are gonna go bowling and have a Special year this year.....General Justin Fuente and staff are putting in the extra work, and will have us more than ready......The World Is Ours Memphis....

It is a little bold to think Memphis would be in a bowl, but not unrealistic. Sure, Memphis did great at AP, but AP was not a test. Memphis had a chance to win at the UCLA, but Memphis did not go deep and lost a great opportunity to steal a W. So, Memphis shows that they have the talent and confidence. But, their game plan is lacking at times. Their secondary was weak at UCLA, but Hundley is a great QB. So, whether the secondary can learn from that game is still the question. But, without Ifedi in the UCLA game, who knows if it might have been a different game.

I hope Memphis goes to a bowl. I hope Memphis moves to a Power 5 conference soon, so we will not lose the momentum of the football program. Since the Power 5 received autonomy and ability to pay stipend to their players, that gives them an advantage over Memphis and other non-Power 5 conference teams. NCAA, through it's ignorance, will not make it fair and let non-Power 5 schools give a stipend. So, don't be surprised if Memphis' recruiting will fall in the near future if Memphis is left out of a Power 5 conference.

Well, are we SURE about that? It has caused me great confusion, because what you are saying is what I had heard prior to all of this "autonomy" talk. But to hear the guys on the radio tell it, you would think the P5 were the only ones going to be allowed to do it. I would like an in-depth investigative article on the subject by a respected journalist. I know that is probably too much to ask of the ESPN-run sports media, but maybe Calkins or the like could do it.

After reading that, I still have the same questions. To say that the P5 will now be able to govern themselves leads one to believe that the rest, by implication, can NOT govern themselves. As in, we have no option. If the NCAA will now allow the P5 schools to give stipends and looser contact with agents, and we can too, then they would have said ALL D1a schools will now be able to give stipends and looser contact with agents.
